Difficulties transferring wallet to account

Hello, an acquaintance is having a problem transferring money from her wallet to her personal account, with over €800 blocked in her wallet.
Her Vinted account quickly evolved and passed the €3000 sales mark, so she entered a new (professional) bank account number.

ID validation OK
Mangopay OK
Wallet update OK

Despite her multiple follow-ups with Vinted and Mangopay, nothing is happening.
They have been telling her to wait for quite a long time.

It turns out that I myself had this kind of problem after several failed transfers, even though nothing had changed regarding the bank account number…

What can be done to recover her money? Has anyone else had this issue??

Hello Martin,
Did you succeed since your post?

Unfortunately, I don’t have any information on this subject, I’m sorry.

Hello, thank you for your message. Alas, no, Vinted’s responses are automatically generated, and so is Mongopay… They ask us to be patient and nothing more, nothing is moving.

You should inquire about whether an official mediator exists for this type of situation. They are blocking your money for no reason and without giving you any updates, which seems illegal even if you « accept » the situation because you are facing large companies.

Generally, in these « asymmetrical » cases, there is a mediator in France to represent you as a consumer and put pressure on a company.
A quick search shows this Vinted page: Contacts pour la résolution des litiges | Vinted

It advises you to:

  1. Send an email to legal@vinted.fr
  2. Otherwise, contact the FEVAD mediator https://www.mediateurfevad.fr/
  3. You can also try (but I am less confident about its proper functioning) to open a dispute here: Site relocation - Consumer Redress in the EU - European Commission

Obviously, make sure you are clean and within your rights before proceeding with steps 2 and 3…

Thank you for these solutions and your research! I will let you know if there’s any news :v:

To respond a bit, if my answer (or legigpt’s) is convincing:

If automatic responses are not enough to resolve the issue, the person can consider sending a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt to Vinted and Mangopay to formalize their request for the release of funds. It is important to include all relevant information and set a reasonable deadline for a satisfactory response.

Furthermore, the person can also inquire about the recourse available in case of a dispute with an online payment platform, such as the possibility of contacting a consumer association or a financial mediator to try to find an amicable solution.

Finally, if the problem persists despite all these steps, the person can consider consulting a lawyer specializing in consumer law for legal advice on the actions to take to resolve the situation.

It is essential to remain vigilant and protect one’s rights as a consumer in such situations. Do not hesitate to act proactively to resolve this blocked fund transfer issue.

And here is a small letter template, if it can help you too:

Subject: Request for release of funds in my e-wallet

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you regarding an issue I am experiencing with a blocked fund transfer in my e-wallet, managed by your platform. Despite my multiple follow-ups and requests for assistance, the block persists, and I have not received a satisfactory response from you.

I remind you that my identity has been validated and my wallet updated in accordance with your requirements. However, the funds amounting to [specify the blocked amount] remain blocked, and I am unable to transfer them to my personal account.

I therefore request that you take the necessary measures to unblock these funds as soon as possible. Please inform me of the actions taken to resolve this issue and provide me with an estimated date for the release of the funds.

Thank you in advance for your attention to my request.

Sincerely,

[Signature]

Don’t forget to attach the necessary supporting documents to your request, such as screenshots of error messages, references of blocked transactions, etc. It is also important to keep a copy of the sent letter and the acknowledgment of receipt for your records.

Feel free to personalize this letter template according to your specific situation and the relevant details to include. Good luck with your efforts to resolve this blocked fund transfer issue.

Hello everyone and thank you for all these solutions. The only solution found was to place an order from your account to a friend on their Vinted account, who was then able to refund you, with some loss of buyer protection, but the damage is ultimately less than losing the entire wallet!

I have the same problem…

I wonder if we shouldn’t contact their supervisory authority because this withholding of money seems completely illicit to me…
