Good idea Toinoviche to rename the topic to sales temperature, a sort of Vinted barometer! Or to create a new one…?
Yes, I will do that properly.
Hello,
For my part, I feel like I’m selling less since I got a bigger closet.
When I had 300-350 listings, things sold better, especially bundles. Now, I feel like Vinties are overwhelmed by my 600 listings and don’t scroll through them…
What do you think?! ![]()
So yes and no, I have over 1400 items. Indeed, people lose patience when they have to search to make bundles, especially. The problem is also the Hashtags, they are sometimes capricious, so it doesn’t help. I dream of seeing categories appear for our shops. But the more items you have, the more likely you are to appear in searches. So, on balance, it balances out. If you repost regularly, try to group categories together, to facilitate searches for similar items in your closet.
I’m in the « Vinted is putting me at the bottom of searches » phase. No sales for 2 days, and also on a secondary account. This hasn’t happened for a long time. The first half of October was very good, the second half will bring it back to average.
Fortunately, I know the phenomenon: I’m not going to give in to a showcase wardrobe, which is useless. Just wait for the algorithm to put me back in front.
Thank you ![]()
I totally share this opinion
I’ve noticed the same thing in the case of a « small closet » but by grouping similar items it works pretty well. Vinted’s algo must also appreciate it because it allows me to « classify » my closet.
Personally, at my place, it’s the opposite. Early October was crazy, lots of favorites, lots of views, listings with 100/200/300 views. For about a week now, there’s been a huge drop in visibility, which is really demoralizing, especially since I brought my brother in to help me. In early October, we started posting about 20 listings a day, whereas before I only posted 5. I also have an eBay shop, which is why I used to post so little, but on Vinted, this is the first time I’ve posted so much. My impression is that I was promoted for a week as soon as I started posting heavily in early October, and after a week, nothing more. Maybe I need to post less to then post more. Have you considered this technique?
Then, are you a professional or an individual? Next, you’re talking about starting, so it’s a recent account, is that right?
If it’s a recent account, I think new accounts start with good visibility. For your case, I think it now depends on the market, so see if the items you offer are also offered in large numbers, if your prices are correct, and most importantly, if the photos are really well done (the photo really depends on the activity, maybe, but I notice in my case that I invested in a photo box… I have really high-quality photos, and even for new listings, I test with a higher price, and it’s surprising, but the same items with very high-quality photos, even though I test with a higher price, generate much more traffic and sales).
@Goodjob2A can you reveal which category you are in, for the photos?
On books, I initially thought that peppering with photos made a difference. But as I sold thousands without anything other than the cover photo, I concluded that the additional photos made no difference. No doubt because the big second-hand sellers (Momox, Gibert, Recyclelivres etc.) do not offer a photo of the item, just the « publisher’s » cover.
I’ve been a pro from the start, and yes, it’s a recent shop on Vinted. I test a lot of niches, so many small quantities, for example, 30 by 30, so I don’t think that’s the problem. I think I take quality photos, but I’m missing a photo box for better lighting. I plan to invest in that soon.
In any case, thank you for your feedback ![]()
I am in costume jewelry, mainly natural stones.
It’s true that for books, it’s specific; people are really interested in the book itself, no point in seeking perfection in the photo…
But when you’re in clothing and accessories, it’s really a key point.
I stopped stressing about photos, I was spending a crazy amount of time on them, and my competitors who don’t stress aren’t selling any less. After modifying a few ads, I even noticed that simple photos get views. With a white background, it’s not even worth it.
Yes, as I said, it also depends on the category.
I am mainly involved with natural stone, so the sharper the photo, the more visual detail there is… so for activity, that’s really the key.
Are sudden drops in visibility common? I’ve browsed several forums and noticed that it happens to many people. Have you ever experienced this? How long does it last?
Yes, and afterwards I try to make it clear anyway ![]()
But until recently, I used lighting (I had a sound/lighting rental business at one time, so I have what I need in terms of spotlights), I used editing software to remove the background, modify things a bit, etc… It took me a crazy amount of time.
And in the end, I saw my competitors who didn’t bother, I get a lot of reports for « photos from the web », Vinted deletes my listings. Well, now I save time, and what’s more, I see that listings with « natural » photos get more visibility. I still have the impression that Vinted users don’t really appreciate « professional » presentations like on eBay.
Since I used to put complete descriptions by retrieving product sheets from manufacturers’ websites and my competitors put « new item, fast shipping » (even with mistakes despite the four words), well, I’ve simplified that too.
Vinted’s photo compression doesn’t help either. Definitely don’t retrieve your photos from Vinted listings to put them on eBay, sometimes it makes disgusting things.
Exactly. On Vinted, you need to have professional processes at all levels, but without it being visible.
Like when Nestlé makes you believe its yogurt is made in an artisanal way!
eBay was for individuals but has become a platform for professionals. It must be said that all the tools are there to conduct large-scale business.
Unfortunately, during periods of low visibility, there’s nothing you can do, whether it’s showcasing or republishing during peak hours, the result is the same, and this applies to everyone, and perhaps even worse for us professionals.
For the pros, yes, I’ve been on eBay for a year and a half, I don’t recommend it, insane fees, if you get disputes, you get insufficient performance for a month and you lose visibility, you lose €0 sales, I know someone it happened to. Besides, you should know that you can call customer service, in case of a dispute, for example, in a case I had, even if you prove the buyer is wrong, they will side with you at first, and once the dispute is closed, they will rule against you, they screw you over, they don’t refund you the fees and they refund the buyer with your money. So be careful, eBay is a nest of trouble, that’s why I’m moving to Vinted, at least I know I’m working for myself because on eBay you’re working more for them than for yourself with their insane fees (because if you want to sell, you have to sponsor) because you’re forced to sell at a high price to make a little money…
Yes, I understand, but is this recurring visibility drop? How long does it last on average? To give me an idea!
The last one lasted a good 2 weeks, the spring one lasted several months (summer didn’t help) so I don’t think there’s really a rule.
