Experience report: Reposts with or without photo modifications—what still works well in February 2026?

Good evening everyone!

A little over a week ago, I conducted a test regarding the republication of listings with and without modifications to my photos.
I republished 12 listings: 6 with a modification only on the first photo (I generated an AI-worn photo), 6 without any modification.

Everything was reposted within the same timeframe, meaning a Saturday evening, with a 90-minute interval. The items had all been online for over 3 weeks. I did not request views or favorites.

I quickly got views on these items.
In less than 24 hours, I sold 3 items (1 item with no modifications to the photos and 2 items with a worn photo) and accumulated over 96 favorites, solely on these 12 items. I felt like there were no other items in my closet besides these 12, I had almost no favorites on the others. (Maybe 2 or 3 max.)

→ I did not receive any messages from Vinted regarding duplicates despite republishing without modification.
I don’t think republication is detected given the visibility I was able to obtain at that time.

I republished 4 items the following week (2 with AI photos and 2 without), but during this new republication… I did not get the same visibility or the same number of favorites on any of these 4 items .
And to conclude my test… I had published 3 items for the first time the same week… But I did not have more success with my views and the number of favorites.

These small tests mainly show that we cannot draw an absolute rule from a single test — there are probably other parameters at play (timing, overall closet dynamics, current traffic…) but also our global environment (school holidays, news…).

I found it interesting to share these observations as they are,

Thank you very much for your sharing

Thank you Lucile for this sharing.
Here, I am re-publishing 30 old listings, without modification. I add new listings from time to time, never on a regular basis.
From time to time, I slightly modify the text or the title.
I think I will soon redo just the first photo of certain items, with my logo that I put as a label (already visible on some).
I put some listings in draft or hidden for a while before putting them back online. Or I group certain items into lots.
I lower the prices of several at once, or adjust my prices occasionally.
I send offers.
I hardly ever use view exchanges, but I do use favorite exchanges more often. I’m not sure it has a real influence. According to my research with chatgpt, favorites and views generated by bots are considered « white noise » for the algorithm. And this « rejects » these listings in a way. Basically, if a listing generates a lot of views and/or favorites without a quick purchase, it’s not good for profitability and therefore, these inconsistent listings are discarded (without necessarily blocking users, let’s be clear).
I do not use any Vinted boosts or any paid advertising outside (instagram, facebook) and this has been the case for over a year.
Overall, my method has been the same since 2024, with the addition of new ideas and all sorts of tests.
Even though 2025 saw my turnover drop painfully, I realized that whatever I did, it might or might not help my turnover increase. Vinted has a constantly changing algorithm and it is anyway focused on individuals. Thousands of listings every hour (new or bumped), with prices for all budgets, with more or less accepted negotiations.
And if we add the political and economic situation, while also reading the opinions of many professionals in different fields, we can only experience waves of disappointment and misunderstanding.
So, I don’t stress about it anymore, I go with the flow and continue to float on the surface of this untamable ocean!

For almost a week I haven’t been able to work, so:

  • no posts
  • no reposts
  • no messages to favorites
  • no requests for views
  • no requests for favorites

Showcase spotlight with Vinted boost

A few proposals that I deem disrespectful, with either a categorical refusal on my part because they are too far off or a risky profile. Two or three attempts at negotiation on my part with no follow-up.

Result = no sales. (maybe one)

I’ll let you draw your own conclusions from this experience.

Sincerely

Hello, here I republish about 5 to 10 articles per day without modifying photos. Until now, I’ve never had any issues, but in one week, 2 articles were deleted by Vinted for being duplicates. So, I think I’m forced to make modifications, but does it come from the photo, the title, or the listing…? Mystery. I don’t dare to relist the 2 articles now.

Today I manually boosted some listings on my personal account, resulting in almost a favorite on each.

I boosted at least 100 listings automatically on my professional account and not even 10% were favorited.

I still have this feeling that manually boosted listings get more views and favorites, as if Vinted detects the automatic boost, even though I modify them, so they are not even the same photos each time, unlike my personal account where I don’t change anything about the listing.

Do others have this feeling?

Hello,

It’s not easy to draw conclusions.

What is certain is that there have been changes. I had recovered some listings from my first account to my second. About 2 months ago, and even though I had reported them several times. One last week and another yesterday were considered to be already part of the catalog and were removed.

The photos had been initially modified.

In your test, on one hand, you recreated 10 listings manually and uploaded 100 automatically. It’s perhaps the number that also plays a role. It’s perhaps also simply the time of republication or the type of product.

It’s true that it was very dead this weekend on my end.

Same here, I had two items considered duplicates when republishing them via clemz.

With, of course, the threat of blocking my account. I had cropped them by 5%, which is not much, but before that it worked without modification.

I have never put these photos in other closets or sold the same item.

There is also an element of randomness… The robot sometimes identifies false duplicates: in this case, you must insist by email, via Vinted support, to indicate that this item is not a duplicate.

Hello @Lucile and everyone else, honestly I think there’s too much randomness to have a theory. From the start, I preferred to diversify the types of items and brands to cast a wide net, and learn to select well what we want to resell.

And I’ve noticed that I have items that I republished without modification that always worked, even niche brands. I just didn’t budge on the price. I apply the strategy of high prices to see if an item sells through testing, but it’s a bit too expensive.

P.S.: The products I sold at a discount were those that had been sitting for months, and clearly I chose those clothes poorly, that’s the common point they all share.

Example: I had two sweaters. I didn’t modify them via clemz, I just republished them with the views/favorites boost, and the observation was the same: the product attracted attention, I received offers that I refused. One of the two eventually sold at the price I wanted, but that’s really because I’m stubborn lol.

The other sweater was republished recently, same niche Asian brand. It still has the same good stats, it’s just a bit too expensive. Next republication, I think it will sell.

My conclusion: I think it’s better to diversify, test niches to sell more, accept that our stock will be dormant rather than trying to trick the algorithm which, as you’ve noticed, is fallible and changes regularly.

However, I think republishing every day keeps your shop active and you’ll always have items that will be highlighted, etc.

I do wonder about hashtags by language, though. I feel like it’s a bit shaky, isn’t it? They work about half the time.
