I’m looking for help on the forum following a package theft.
I am the sender and I sent a package on 07/09/2026 to Italy.
Upon arrival at its destination, the package was refused due to its dimensions, so it returned to its starting point. I went to the relay point on 07/21/2026, but the package was empty…
Therefore, I refused to accept it.
I wrote to Vinted the same day, but to this day, I still haven’t received a response.
Mondial Relay, the carrier, won’t do anything until Vinted opens a dispute.
Hello @D.Mrt
I am sorry to hear that you are one of the sellers who may have encountered one of Mondial Relay’s flaws, particularly the theft of their parcels.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to refer directly to Mondial Relay since you used Vinted’s labeling, and therefore Vinted’s contract with Mondial Relay.
It is imperative that you go through Vinted to make your claim.
I do not wish to add to your distress, but do not expect to recover the sum you indicate, since any compensation that Vinted may offer you will not be to the value of your parcel.
The compensation package is well below.
You were aware of this, if you took the time to read the T&Cs.
All I can advise you for the future is to NEVER send a parcel of such value via a Relais, let alone through Vinted.
Unfortunately, knowing the subject but for much smaller sums, you can always try to contact Vinted and arm yourself with patience, you will get compensation (perhaps) but derisory compared to the value of the package.
In the future, go directly through the post office and take out insurance for the real value of the package. It will cost you more, but at least if the delivery goes wrong, you have a single point of contact, and with your insurance, you will be compensated up to the declared value.
If the person really wants to buy from you for that much money, they will be able to understand that you want to insure the package… otherwise it’s a red flag.
So if I understand correctly, having a package stolen is within everyone’s reach without anything happening, no investigation, no refund. That’s more than incredible..
I am responding based on 20 years of expertise in transportation. The carrier has limited liability by default. Compensation is calculated in SDRs (Special Drawing Rights), meaning a few euros per kilo. Otherwise, you need to prove the carrier’s fault. My advice is therefore to send a registered letter to Vinted AND the carrier (as Vinted is merely an intermediary company), file a consumer complaint, and contact the public mediator and a consumer association. Fortunately, if you have legal protection, involve them in the dispute AND file a theft report at the police station or gendarmerie (a simple log entry is useless). If they refuse to take your report, send a registered letter to the public prosecutor at the judicial court in your jurisdiction. Given the amount, it’s worth fighting a little. I won’t add anything further to the advice of our forum friends. Generally, when you have an experience like this, you quickly learn your lesson. Vinted is not a platform for selling expensive items, especially not abroad (I tremble every time, even for low-value items). Good luck to you
