Package delivered to buyer despite return requested by Vinted. What to do?

Hello, I’m here to seek help after a very peculiar and unprecedented situation for me.

Here’s the context in summary.

  • I am the seller.
  • Package sent with Chronopost.
  • Package not picked up by the buyer.
  • Package returned to the carrier/driver and is supposedly being sent back to me.

So far, so good, this has happened to me before.

  • Except the package is being sent back to the SAME locker as the initial shipment (SMS and Email sent).
  • This same afternoon, the package was picked up by « someone. »

In the meantime, the buyer claims not to understand and seems lost (even though she has many reviews and is not new to Vinted).

So, big problem.
In the meantime, Vinted refunds the buyer, and Vinted’s responses tell me that « according to them, » the package was sent back to me and I picked it up.

When all it takes is to look at the Chronopost tracking to see that it’s not the case.

In the meantime, I just heard from Chronopost, who confirmed that the package was indeed picked up by the buyer. That the buyer called to have the package redelivered to the same locker (clearly intentionally). This scam is outrageous.

So she lets the deadlines pass and then intercepts the package by calling them and requesting redelivery to the same locker as the departure. Meanwhile, Vinted thinks it was returned to me.

What exactly should I do? Vinted sends me the same automated and false responses despite the bombardment of evidence. It’s as if they don’t even look at what I’m giving them.

I am in the process of collecting a complete file, including this person’s personal data, and I intend to file a complaint somewhere, even if only on principle.

If Vinted had refunded me, I might have let it go, but this is outrageous.

What should I do?

I notice once again that at the moment there are many problems with Colissimo, to believe that now only Mondial Relay is reliable.
I sent Colissimo packages to a Laposte agency, and after a few days they were available at my usual relay point for Mondial Relay shipments, which is very strange, and well, after notification, the package was delivered (by me, therefore, and not the buyer)…

No issues with Colissimo on my end. For now, Christmas is going surprisingly well (but hey, in my opinion, it’s due to less traffic given what I’ve heard) except for a few Vinted Go issues (we couldn’t expect too much either).

This is not a Colissimo or Chronopost error, as I have confirmation and proof that the buyer, who denied understanding what was happening, called them on the day the deadline expired to collect the package and asked them to put it in her locker. She then collected it the next day, but during this time Vinted thinks the package was returned to me.

Yes, there are tricksters who know certain loopholes in the procedures of carriers and platforms to pull off scams.

I had one on eBay, a magician, who managed to keep his game, get a refund, and still get paid. All with a story that I had sent the wrong version (which was impossible given the stock since I still had the « wrong » game at home).

Clever trick to convince Chronopost to re-deliver to the same place. I wonder how that got through their systems.

A limitation to this scam is that the recipient’s name and address are known to you (or am I confusing it with Colissimo?). If the amount involved is high, say over €200, or if you are really very angry, you can threaten legal action. This is not at all possible with Vinted Go, which masks the recipient’s contact details.

Hello Siquest,
Welcome to the forum first of all… and really sorry for you for this misadventure.
I see that everyone is sharing their own negative experiences, but I suggest we get back to the main subject of the post: knowing how we could help you :slightly_smiling_face:

I didn’t know about this scam… it’s certainly clever to play with the system’s loopholes but not at all respectful! I don’t have any advice from my own experience on the subject, not having had the case.

On the other hand, I do recommend that you keep as much proof as possible and send emails to Vinted AND the carrier to win your case. The shipping label clearly indicates the drop-off address… and your departure address. The tracking clearly indicates that it was returned to the same arrival locker… you just need a Vinted customer support agent and/or Chronopost to look closely at the file to understand. So in my opinion… Insist until you find someone competent by email.

Good luck… and keep us informed of the outcome, we’re crossing our fingers for you :crossed_fingers:t2:

Thank you!

By any chance, do you have a Vinted email for this kind of thing? I’m currently using the messaging system, but that’s where I’m having problems, and someone is refusing to look at the evidence.
Sincerely

You need to use legal@vinted.fr

On Vinted messaging, it’s handled by a bot, so there are no neurons connecting and it follows a linear path. On legal Vinted, you will have access to the « human » customer service. You need to insist until you reach a human who doesn’t just follow the bot.

Thank you very much!! I will obviously insist. I have 1200 perfect reviews + 4 years of loyal service, I really hope that at the very least they look at the transaction, I don’t see why I should incur the costs of an obvious scam.

Thanks anyway

alas they don’t care about that at all

Yes indeed « seniority » is not really a factor unfortunately
