Unclaimed package by buyer: what happens in this case?

Hello everyone and best wishes!
I sent an order and today is the last day before the package is returned to me. The package arrived at the pickup point on December 31st, and apparently the buyer is not going to pick it up since this pickup point closed at 3 p.m. today.
I sent her a message yesterday and she hasn’t replied (yet the message is marked as seen).
Anyway. Normally the package should be returned to me (at least I hope so).
Has this happened to any of you and was the package returned to you?
Can I put the item back on sale on Vinted with the same photos and presentation? And finally, regarding the buyer, should I report her and give her a bad review?
Thank you for your help

Hello, yes it has happened a few times. Most of the time, you don’t need to look far, they found it cheaper elsewhere and since Vinted refunds the shipping costs, they don’t care.

So, in principle, yes the package will be returned to you. Regarding the buyer, no you won’t be able to do anything and therefore it’s not possible to leave a review.

Same answer as @Gametoysretro and yes you can repost your ad with a risk that it will be taken down again by Vinted but a clean repost and it’s good!

I had this happen twice, via Chronopost. The first package was returned to my home, the second to the pickup point where I had left it… the buyer was refunded, the transaction « canceled » so it was impossible to leave a review

Thank you very much. Too bad the buyer can’t react. This attitude is not very correct.

Thank you for your response. I am a bit disgusted that I cannot report the buyer.

Thank you for your response. It’s quite frustrating in the end. But good news on Vinted, I guess I might still have this scenario. Have a good day

Thank you Leadie91. I will have to familiarize myself with clemz. Have a good day

In fact, as soon as a dispute is opened or a transaction is canceled, you can no longer leave reviews.
On the other hand, I understand you, but on the other hand, tell yourself that it’s a double-edged sword if it were possible, you would also receive a bad review in return. Personally, I advise not to get too worked up about this kind of inconvenience, there’s not much you can do about it. But in fact, what is especially abnormal is that Vinted reimburses the shipping costs and its buyer protection, if that were not the case, it would happen less often.

For disputes, I think it’s good in the end. It avoids getting a bad review because the carrier damaged the package, for example.

Hello! Thank you for your feedback. Yes, you are probably right: don’t overthink it.
Getting a bad rating when I’m not at fault wouldn’t be very pleasant. What’s annoying is that we lose time and potentially buyers while the package is being sent and returned. And now I think this might happen again, so it’s better to make the best of a bad situation. Where I also agree with you is that Vinted refunds them directly. What I hope for is the return of my package and to be able to relist the item on Vinted without any problems. It was put up for sale as soon as I got the shipping label. I hope the algorithm will allow the listing to be visible again. Besides, I wonder if I shouldn’t delete the listing and republish it later. Have a nice day.

You will have a « republish » button, if you use it the item will be put back in the same place as when it was sold. And yes, you shouldn’t get discouraged even though I understand very well that the first few times it’s infuriating (afterwards you don’t even pay attention to it anymore), the important thing is to retrieve the package to be able to put it back on sale.

Hello!

I had this case just a few days ago and the item did not go back down. I clicked on « republish » when Vinted offered it to me… and the listing was indeed the first in my wardrobe.

Ok, I thought I had the opposite, but my memory might be playing tricks on me.

Thank you Lucile. I will wait for the package to be returned to me first, and then I will repost.

Exactly. So I will arm myself with patience. Thanks again for taking the time to answer me.

Hello,
I also noticed when a buyer canceled a sale that the item in question was at the top of my wardrobe upon its republication :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello, I understand, but it’s still fortunate that we buyers are reimbursed if we don’t receive the order, because for example, the girl sold me a bag and waited for me to place the order to tell me it was a fake. I wanted to cancel the order twice and each time she refused and still sent the item. So if I don’t pick it up, it’s legitimate. Because if I pick it up, I have to open a dispute and pay the return costs when I didn’t want it.

yes but here because there is an attempted scam by the seller. But when a buyer does not collect their package for reasons of their own (changes their mind, found it cheaper elsewhere, forgot etc …) it is also not abnormal that the shipping costs are not refunded (which is what happens on platforms that are a bit more « pro » by the way)

And if, for example, you don’t collect the package that has been returned, is it possible that it will be sent back to the buyer and that you will ultimately be paid?
