a person is buying an item from me through Vinted Go, even though my bio clearly states that for packages larger than 38 cm, Vinted Go should not be used.
I am canceling the transaction because the package is too large.
And Vinted automatically gives me a negative review.
How can I cancel a Vinted Go order without getting an immediate negative review?
You must send a message to the buyer explaining the reason for the cancellation and that they agree to cancel the order « by mutual agreement. » If the cancellation is okay on both sides, you will not receive a negative rating.
In the absolute sense, there’s not even a need to ask for the buyer’s opinion to process the cancellation.
Otherwise, the size of the lockers is a pain. But there are drop-off points. So now I send it, if the buyer complains I tell them it’s specified in the listing that the Vinted go lockers are too small (implying it’s their responsibility) and then they can sort it out. At worst, it’ll be returned by Vinted, possibly lost, and I’ll be refunded.
I have never seen a package measured. Furthermore, the very big problem is that they use some foreign carriers for relays, who do not have this issue. But if you don’t have a drop-off point, it’s impossible to send.
If the buyer chose a locker, the package will be moved to a drop-off point. Not convenient, but tough luck for them; at some point, if they don’t read the descriptions of what they are buying, we are not responsible. Otherwise, it will be returned to you, or often lost (but you will be refunded).
As a correction, it is sufficient for the seller to choose « by mutual agreement », without the buyer having to intervene. This does not result in a negative rating.
I don’t know what you’re selling, even a large sweater doesn’t fit in an XS. For me, 98% of my packages don’t fit in an XS or even a Mondial Relay small package… and if you follow Vinted’s double packaging instructions, it’s even worse.
As for the engineers, they’re certainly doing a good job, but they’re certainly not working with what they produce… just try changing a bulb on a Megane without removing the bumper…
Ah, I admit, I don’t often change car lighting systems. But really, to change the little light bulb in the ceiling light, you have to dismantle the bumper?
Especially for Mondial Relay, frankly the lockers are well-suited.
In the « very small » size, summer clothes fit easily… (even jeans)
So for books, it’s great.
I confirm regarding the locker sizes, 80% XS too, in summer. In winter, it’s true that you need S. For Mondial Relay, the lockers are very good, as is their scanning procedure, which is fast. Vinted has improved even though it’s slower.
Because it’s adapted to what you sell. Try to sell laserdiscs/vinyl, Playmobil fire trucks, collectible figures, and you’ll understand the hell that Vinted Go is.
They simply shouldn’t impose it for these kinds of categories where it can only cause problems.
So you can visualize the problem, it’s like asking you to send a TV in a Mondial Relay locker.
Yes and no. If you decide to sell bikes knowing that there are size limits for packages, who is at fault? You have the right to sell them, but you might not be able to ship them.
Vinted is the same.
There is a system, Vinted Go and its lockers, which has its limits, which are known, and which is imperfect. It’s better to take it into account and not sell things that cannot be sent there. And given the multiplication of lockers, one can think that this will become more widespread.
Vinted could perhaps implement a limit for a particular item, or block Vinted Go for certain products and only offer a carrier that accepts them (DHL, La Poste, Mondial Relay?), but it’s endless and almost impossible given the variety of sellable items, not to mention the differences between lockers and drop-off points.
At worst, they could put a warning. But having often spoken with the person who runs the drop-off point, many of them aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, or don’t have much of a clue at all.
Categories can also be easily bypassed by putting the item in another category.
What I mean is that at some point, you also need to use your head a bit. A bit of common sense wouldn’t hurt.
