Vinted Go locker announced empty!

Hello, recently, following a sale, a buyer informed me that the tracking was blocked, that it was not updating, and asked me to check on my end. I did so and confirmed to her that I had the same tracking information, and that nothing had changed for 4 days. I reported it to Vinted, and she did the same… 7 days later, the delivery person declared « Empty locker ». I filed a complaint with Vinted, asking them to open an investigation, explaining that we were dealing with a thief delivery person, that their declaration was delayed, and that if the locker had been empty, they should have reported it at the time of picking up the packages and not 7 days later. Vinted prefers to turn a blind eye, siding with the delivery person, which allows them to avoid dealing with such problems! I think as soon as they receive money, the rest matters little… In this case, I lost the money for the order because the buyer was refunded, and fortunately for her because she was so eager to receive her order, but double punishment for me because, although it was only €11.50, I also lost what I sent since the delivery person stole the package, so money + merchandise that will never be returned to me. In short, I am the guilty one, I am the thief, and the delivery person is rubbing his hands together, as is Vinted! Today, to protect myself, I am forced to film the drop-off of packages in the lockers with the envelope and the label clearly visible, until the locker is closed, hoping that the delivery person will steal again and that I can present proof that the culprit is him and not me… Well done Vinted, I who had confidence in a service that is supposed to be serious and provide us with security!!! …

If there’s one service that’s messed up and always disadvantages the seller, it’s this one.
Personally, I recommend using pickup points. The package is scanned by a person, so the « empty locker » scenario can’t happen (several people have complained about this recently); if it’s lost, it’s definitely during the shipping process. Plus, you don’t have to deal with the ridiculously small locker sizes and full lockers.

Since this morning, I specify that I refuse shipments via Vinted Go but if the buyer does not see the message, I still have the solution of filming the drop-off at the locker with the locker closing. What a disappointment Vinted and on social networks, it’s starting to make a lot of noise!

Vinted has advantages and has understood the second-hand market well with a simple and functional application and great ease in managing shipments.
But on the other hand, it is the least reliable and most annoying platform. You’d think they sometimes don’t want you to sell.

I’ve never had this problem when sending. But I’m very careful to close the locker properly. Because at least once there was a locker ajar, and anyone could take the item (and someone definitely did…). Once, I also found another package in the locker that was offered to me.

Otherwise, I am very happy with the support for these automatic lockers, both at Vinted Go and MR. It happened to me that I put the same label on two packages, so the second one didn’t go through. I called, they noticed the problem, and they remotely opened the first locker for me to retrieve the item and go check/correct the shipping labels.

@Gametoysretro: Honestly, in terms of reliability, I don’t have these problems with Vinted.

The most annoying platform remains Rakuten (recently joined by the confidential platform Book Village).

Rakuten I gave up because they exaggerated too much on their commissions and fees. But otherwise, I never had any problems with them.

You are lucky because between lost packages, those that supposedly arrive empty, returns without real reason (and they disappear during the return, that happens too), compensation that is granted very randomly, listings deleted without valid reason or blocks following fake reports, it’s a festival on Vinted. I have used almost all common platforms for about 20 years and in one year on Vinted I have had 10 times more problems to manage than in 20 years on all the others.

I remind you that Vinted is still the platform that managed to ban for « sales of real animals » for an ad of a Lion figurine :face_savoring_food:

Afterwards, the problem is that they didn’t want to stick to clothes and their infrastructure can’t keep up. Their Vinted Go is an aberration for sending toys, for example. It can only go wrong.

And their bugs? there are always some, I’ve never seen anything like it.

Another thing I don’t understand is with the carriers. I don’t know if they differentiate the treatment of packages based on contracts, but for example with Mondial Relay I never have a problem with eBay or LBC and all the problems I have (lost package, arrived smashed …) are with Vinted sales. And the same with Shop2shop. Relais colis, it’s very rare that there is a problem regardless of the platform.

I agree with you, it’s by far the least secure platform. That’s why it won’t last in the long term. If a competitor has the means to set up something big and more professional, they’ll be gobbled up.

@Gametoysretro: I should have been more precise, when I said I had no problems, I was only talking about Vinted Go.
Like with Mondial Relay, I prefer lockers. I like clicking on buttons, and it saves me from queuing at the store, and the opening hours are better, at least for the locker in a laundromat.
But above all, I like that there is no check of the actual weight of the package. Once it’s dropped off, everything goes through.

I have also been a victim of bans, nothing more annoying. The last one a few weeks ago, because of a paperback Folio book cover. It was a Saturday. After persistent complaints, account restored on Monday. It was necessary to wait for the French staff to return to the office. The book in question was sold the same day.

Yes, I understood about Vinted Go, good thing you don’t have a problem, mine is completely different. After that, it stabilized a bit, but at the beginning, what a nightmare.

Yes, there’s a practical side to lockers, that’s undeniable. For me, it’s just that sometimes they’re too small. And Vinted Go, the lockers are always full for me, so I prefer relay points.
Besides, I’m lucky to have a shop that accepts several carriers, so that saves me from going around to different relay points, and over time, I feel right at home there. I park in front of the door, leave them a pile of packages in the middle, wish them a good day, and they take care of it. Besides, it’s a garage, so it’s not exactly a high-traffic area.

In the absolute sense, that already exists with the historical platforms, eBay provides absolutely everything to work with.
There is still one thing where Vinted holds us, which is that those who are only buyers are ultra-favored, so customers are on Vinted and we are forced to be there even if the platform is sometimes unbearable. It’s the platform of the moment, but there are cycles, it can turn. 10 years ago, nobody would have bet on the collapse of eBay or Rakuten (even if for them it’s mainly a change of model by shifting more towards a marketplace system for large retailers).

For me, there is one that I don’t understand why it’s not taking off, it’s Beebs. It has absolutely the exact same functionalities as Vinted, there are always 25/30% off vouchers, they don’t bother you for nonsense, the ads appear in Google suggestions… The only thing that is as bad as Vinted is customer service.

Two jokes of the day about carriers.

Mondial Relay informs me that a package has arrived for me at a locker. Curious, I’m not expecting anything. Surprise: it’s a return from a Vinted sale, a sale that the buyer had already received and duly paid for.

Shop2Shop: the buyer sends me an item back. He thought he was buying a DVD but had ordered a book with the same cover. For a mysterious reason, the return label is addressed to the destination pickup point. I sent a package to the « Village Bar, » and the return is from the « Village Bar » to the « Village Bar. » It’s on the other side of the country, and I’m not likely to pass by there. So for weeks, I’ve been getting alerts like « package available, » « package not picked up, » « return to sender, » « package available, » etc.

I could have written your post.

I would like to grow, but avoiding Vinted is impossible, so you have to stay under it, keeping a low profile, while also being elsewhere. Vinted can ban us in the blink of an eye.

Go back to eBay? Why not.
LBC? I have some doubts.
Have your own site via Shopify or Odoo?

It requires other skills, marketing, but perhaps it’s a great adventure, it’s long-term.

Hence my question, can you put the link to your own shop on your Vinted profile? In the ad, I imagine not.
I know you can’t on eBay.

Are you on eBay and Vinted at the same time, do you put the same products there?
I did both for a while, and with each sale on one site, I had to remove the product from the other platform. Hence my idea of putting different products.

Logistically, it’s complicated.

For example, with Shopify, there are issues if you republish on Vinted, because the site takes the republish as a new listing.

In the end, there’s nothing complete that links centralized management.

hello - be careful not to necessarily blame the delivery person. Other reasons can be the cause. Yesterday, for example, when dropping off a MR package, a locker that was already occupied was opened for me, so I closed the door and when I tried again, I was told that my barcode was not valid (in fact, the package was considered shipped).
So I called MR from the location - great, they answered right away. So they opened the locker in question remotely. I was asked to take out the package and put it in another locker (controlled remotely) and my locker was then available.
I have already witnessed this kind of scene - in front of me, someone found a locker that was already occupied. They removed the package, put theirs in, and left with it, so it’s not necessarily the delivery person who is at fault.
The worst providers in my case are Relais Colis. 15 days for a delivery of 2 books and another package stuck for 10 days that will arrive at another relay point. I have removed Relais Colis from my sales. Only upon request.

Hello - Well, that would be my luck! I never would have thought an occupied locker would open so I could place my package. Vinted is failing more and more, it would be time to take stock because they are starting to lose people… Thank you for your testimony.

Hello- On my Vinted bio, I have the link to my website and it is not forbidden because Vinted checked my account a few weeks ago for a report about I don’t know what… My account remained online but I was forbidden to buy or sell for a few hours, during the checks. It happened 6 hours, Vinted apologized for the inconvenience because they found nothing wrong and the link to my website in my bio did not bother them since it is still there as well as my account.

Vinted is a big plus for sales. I sell a lot on my website which has been online since last December, so 7 months and Vinted was created more than 1 year ago but only used for my sales for 4 months because before that I occasionally sold a few books.

I list the same products on both and it doesn’t cause any problems since I have several copies. When I only have one copy left, I put it on my website because I know it will sell much faster on Vinted.

My website is Hostinger with WooCommerce, super easy to use and very nice presentation. I chose the Showcase categories theme, it’s easier for visitors to find their way around.

Sylvie - Regarding lockers already occupied (this has happened to me several times) here is the explanation I was given. A buyer comes to pick up a package but does not close the door and the locker is supposed to be empty… but another person seeing an open locker would put their package in it without scanning it!!! That holds up as an explanation.

Indeed, that holds up except that I would never drop off a package without it being scanned first. That still ensures the drop-off…

Thank you Sylvie for your very interesting and encouraging testimony.
Do you manage to know where the customers on your site come from?

Hello @anon90966608, yes, I have a statistics function that I rarely use because it’s specified in the customer order; Origin Google, Origin Facebook, Origin YouTube, etc… So that’s enough for me to know where they come from. Statistics are good for knowing age and country.
