Vinted bride your messages to favorites

Unfortunately, I have some bad news: Vinted will soon severely limit the ability to send messages to your favorites with Clemz

Indeed, shortly you will only be able to send 1 message to favorites every 3-4 minutes :scream:

How to check for yourself

As of today, the throttling exists if you test it manually:

  1. :bell:Open your notifications

  2. :heart: Open several favorite notifications, each in a new tab (on computer: click on notifications while holding down the CTRL key)

  3. :envelope:Each tab opens your Vinted messaging and loads the message to contact the person who favorited the item

  4. :cross_mark:After opening 21 notifications, the following messages will no longer load

The throttling manifests itself here: after reading 20 favorite notifications, you have to wait more than an hour to read a 21st :hourglass_done:

Why is this problematic?

For now, Clemz is not affected but soon, unfortunately, it will be: It will then take 1-2 hours per day (minimum) to send more than 20 messages to your favorites :broken_heart:

I estimate that the throttling will apply to Clemz sometime this summer :hourglass_done:

What can we do about it?

20 messages per day, when you have a significant account, is not much. And throttling like this to 1 message every 4 minutes is ridiculously long, even for manual sending!

:right_arrow:I think we can protest and push Vinted to change this ridiculous setting

We are dozens of sellers on this forum and if Vinted receives messages on their customer support saying that we cannot manually send more than 20 messages to favorites (of course, do not mention Clemz if you use it), they might change their minds.

I worked in a tech company: customer feedback influences this type of setting!

The information will necessarily be relayed from customer support to the « Product Manager ». And if many of us protest, they will reduce the minimum time between 2 messages (to 30 seconds or something else :crossed_fingers:)

What message to send to Vinted?

I suggest we all do this:

  1. Contact Vinted support by your preferred method: email to legal@vinted.fr, go through the help section on vinted.fr, etc.

  2. State that you manually send your messages to favorites and that for some time now, it has been impossible to load the message after opening 21 notifications (as the test I describe at the beginning proves).

  3. Argue that these messages trigger many sales for you and that prohibiting them is a significant loss of income. For you, and therefore for them.

  4. Conclude by asking them if they plan to change this soon?

If my call is followed by many Vinties, Vinted will have the information and we might have the chance to avoid « losing » this feature
If no one does anything… messages to favorites will soon no longer work as well :smiling_face_with_tear:

Hello, first of all, a limitation is already in place, but not very restrictive.
There is something that is not clear, because you write:

And « 20 messages per day »

Is this one message every 4 minutes, limited to 20 per day
Or one message every 4 minutes limited to 20 with a wait of more than an hour to see from the 21st and resume sending favorites?

What I’ve noticed from doing quite a few tests is that hardly any sellers, even professionals, send offers, and some of the most « well-known » ones. This has only happened twice.

And the more time goes on, the less I think about sending favorites, or I do it manually on targeted items.
I’ve also had feedback from buyers that it annoyed them.
Anyway, there’s a bit of everything.

And also when you have a niche, offers to favorites aren’t necessarily a good thing, because people often make bundles and make the offer themselves, which is often very reasonable; this should be compared to a very diversified showcase like I had before, where sending offers isn’t crazy because generally the offers received in that case are often at -40%.
This is when you have common items, offer > demand.

But a favorite every 4 minutes doesn’t bother me.

Very annoying indeed!
Knowing that one out of two sales is made thanks to messages to favorites concerning me!
I will send them a message when I have a little time.

I never do it, but given the bargain hunting on Vinted, it’s complicated. I’d say the offer is generally already included in the base price.

For the moment, I don’t feel limited in my message sending to favorites via Clemz. When should this become effective?

Unfortunately, we do not have a precise date or any idea of when this might happen. :sweat_smile:
We do not know Vinted’s change schedule in advance (although sometimes… it would make our lives much easier! :sweat_smile:) :wink:

So the throttling already exists on the Vinted website (you can do the test I describe in my initial post)

For the moment, Clemz manages to bypass it but this will not last! And if we alert Vinted only when they block the method used by Clemz… they will know that these complaints come from Clemz users and not from Vinties manually sending their messages.

If no one contacts them, everyone will be penalized in the end => I think it is urgent to make them understand that such manual throttling does not make sense

But I’ve had exchanges again today, and nothing has changed.

What has changed is that this manual block will soon also apply to Clemz…

Very annoying! Contrary to what is said, 100% of the big sellers I know (10k and + per month) send messages to favorites!! Personally, I have €12,500 in sales this month, and at least €7,000 come from messages to favorites!!! I am always shocked at how creative Vinted is at losing revenue… It’s really almost always an obvious lack of calculation, like when they wanted to remove the minimum limit for an offer. If you want my opinion, it will be the same: this update will last 15 days at most, because they will see that their revenue has dropped by 10%. They are completely disconnected from the reality of the platform, it’s so predictable that I don’t understand them… In short, I will also write a message, specifying of course that « understand that my goal here is simply to offer the best price to my customers ».
