I agree with the general opinion, and in fact, there’s no debate to be had because it’s forbidden in the General Terms and Conditions.
From that point on, the seller is in the wrong.
But honestly, I don’t understand how this type of listing continues to work. As a buyer, it annoys me to see a great price only to find out it’s not real, the listing is misleading.
Basically, Vinted was designed for scrolling and impulse buying: great image + great price = purchase.
Putting a photo that doesn’t match the listing tastes like false advertising; personally, it just makes me want to run away.
And then, well, I want to say that we can regret it, but we live in a world where things don’t fall from the sky (well, most of them), so yes, selling on platforms requires a minimum of effort.
Furthermore, if you want to sell in batches, Vinted’s functionality is impeccable in this regard. Personally, when I buy a book cheaply (a few euros), I always check the seller’s shop to potentially add one or more other books that interest me, which limits shipping costs.
Yes. making the slightest effort thinking it will happen on its own. and just for money.
That’s what bothers me with all these sellers and YouTubers: gotta scale, I make X K per month, and I’m in Dubai, and I have a x sqm space. and me this and me that. There’s no substance, other than money. Money shouldn’t be the driving force, money is a consequence.
I started selling online out of conviction, and it still is, I have a philosophy of life, I know why I sell what I sell, money is secondary. It’s my way of doing my part.
There’s an idea, a brand, convictions, that’s why I’ve stood the test of time, while most have gone bankrupt or changed paths at the first difficulty.
So, people who don’t even want to bother writing a description and respecting the customer… it baffles me.
This reminds me of a collectors’ circle I was in. At the time, I used to buy a lot during sales and I’d get duplicates to potentially trade, and I’d sell some to finance it (you could even say it was the starting point). And on the other side, I had guys who would explain to me that they couldn’t be bothered to get up for the opening, to drive there, etc. … but on the other hand, they’d be happy for me to help them out by sending them things I’d found at cost price, obviously). Well, at some point, that’s enough. It’s clear that I was bringing back boxes of amazing finds, but on the other hand, I was getting up at 6 a.m., driving hundreds of kilometers over 2 days, I had planned a route in the region where, over time, I had identified culture sections in Leclerc stores in remote areas, etc. … in short, I was making an effort to get all of that.
