Visibility issues and sales drop

Here is what Vinted responded to me regarding the drop in sales
"Thank you for contacting us.

I am truly sorry for the disappointing situation you are experiencing.

Good news: our technical team is aware of the issue and a fix is in progress! :hammer_and_wrench: We hope everything will be working well very soon.

Have a nice day."

So it is indeed a recurring problem

Ah, that’s good news! Anyway, given the number of people in our situation, and the precise time it started, it couldn’t have been anything other than a bug…

Well, hopefully the problem will be resolved quickly… That’s another story

We should start a petition for compensation :joy:

@ Poggi : I totally agree with you about the benefit of specialization. If there’s one thing I’d like to have on Vinted, it’s the ability to have multiple Ā« shops Ā». I sell books: I’ve regretted from the beginning not having a shop for novels, one for essays, one for art books, etc. I’m perfectly aware that when someone is looking for a crime novel, they won’t buy a sociology essay.

Hello - In my opinion, if Vinted’s search engine were more efficient, we wouldn’t need to open multiple shops.

Well, the problem is that it does. I could agree with your entire reasoning if it weren’t for that. And on professional groups, this is something that comes up a lot. Quite a few people who, from one day to the next, find their revenue divided by 5.

In my personal case, it’s basically 5-day cycles. So, I agree that randomness exists in business, but here it’s timed like clockwork: 5 days I work, 5 days I do nothing, and this has been going on for months. Luckily, I don’t have all my eggs in the Vinted basket.

I’ve just come back from vacation, and strangely enough, I’m not selling too badly even though I haven’t posted anything yet, I’ve just been busy updating my packages. And besides, July is really not a good month in my sector.

Vinted is clearly not suitable for large shops. Using the example of the books mentioned above, I used to buy a lot for my wife on Rakuten, and having multiple categories in the same shop didn’t cause any problems (on the contrary, it allowed for optimized shipping costs and discount vouchers).

Not a good idea to buy books on Rakuten. Their commission is so high that sellers are forced to sell at a high price. As for me, I have books on Rakuten because listing them is easy, but I sell them much cheaper on Vinted.

hence the Ā« before Ā»

I gave up on Rakuten, they are too abusive. Anyway, individuals and small sellers no longer interest them.

The only advantage of Rakuten is that there isn’t the Ā« old listing buried on page 10 Ā» phenomenon. Listings are roughly sorted by increasing price when you are on a given book.

Regarding going live: it was fast, until I realized that the suggested price ignores bulk used sellers like Momox or Recyclelivres. In other words, Momox etc. pay Rakuten so that their listings are excluded from price comparisons when someone wants to sell the same book.
So when you go live on Rakuten, you first have to go through a manual check of competing prices. The advantage of scanning the ISBN / barcode disappears. Furthermore, on a phone, it’s such a painful process that in practice it’s unfeasible => PC required.

Are you in vacation mode? How long did you leave without sending packages?

You wrote that vacation mode caused your sales to drop upon your return. So I hesitate, but does that mean we can never rest?

I went on vacation for 3 weeks and I just hid my listings to avoid the vacation mode, which apparently causes sales to drop… I had never made the connection before, but it’s true that last year I put myself as unavailable for 1 month and when I returned it took several weeks to pick up again!

For my part, I was also on vacation for almost a month.
I just got back and so far my stats have remained stable: I’m still averaging around 4 sales per day.
So I would say it might depend on the account, its age, or the posting frequency, but personally I haven’t seen a big impact.

7 messages were split into a new topic: PRO: other sales platform

Yeah, I tried again because I didn’t want to have to explain each time that I was on vacation and that it would take a few days). I don’t know, I haven’t had time to check if my articles were showing up in the search engine yet.

I sell silver and stone jewelry. I deliberately have very little stock because I specialize in unique pieces. Therefore, I have a targeted clientele. Vinted complements my website, and since I’ve been on this platform, my revenue has been steadily increasing. I post one piece per day and occasionally re-publish items. From time to time, I introduce a new product line so that my clientele doesn’t get bored, but I am very careful to always stay within the theme of my shop. I would be curious to have an outside opinion because I operate on the principle that one can always improve.

I’m jumping on this topic, I haven’t gone on vacation and yet none of my articles appear when I type the exact name in the search with another account, I’m invisible from searches…
And contacting support doesn’t do much good, same bot response…

There have been major issues with the Vinted search bar lately, so that could explain it.

What’s your Vinted? I’ll try to check on my end.

Same as yesterday, a friend asked for my account, I gave it to him, he looked and I didn’t appear anywhere.

Yesterday there were bugs, the site wasn’t progressing, messages weren’t displaying, this morning same server error, nothing works. Every day there’s something.

What a mess this site is. Never a sales site like this. they managed to get the N°1 spot, for the moment we can’t do without it, but at this rate they won’t last long.
I’m telling you, plan for something else on the side and now, so you don’t hit the wall having planned nothing.
