I’ve just switched to a professional account on Vinted, and I wanted to share a bit of my experience.
To be completely transparent, I’m quite surprised by the drop in my activity this month: my revenue in July was divided by 4 compared to previous months (when I was still on a personal account). I expected a decrease in the summer, but not to this extent.
So, I have a question: From September to the end of the year, how does your revenue generally evolve?
Do you notice a real recovery at the start of the school year? A gradual increase? A big period in November-December?
Thanks in advance to those who take the time to share their experience
Good luck to everyone in getting through this summer slump
It depends on what you sell. For me, summer is very so-so, but that’s every year. On the other hand, from the end of August until Christmas, I enter my best period. Almost the rest of the year is for building up stock for that period.
Thank you for your response.
I sell textiles, clothing, for men and women. So I wanted to know: can you quantify the difference in turnover between summer and your peak period (end of August to Christmas)? Like x2, x3, more? So that I know if I’m really lagging behind or if it’s normal.
Yes, I can quantify it, I do 4 times less in the summer. Well, between the end of June and August 15th, it starts to pick up again in the second half of August. But I haven’t done my July accounts yet, but it’s not impossible that it will actually be a little better than usual, eBay did well, especially with the Italians, so I’ll have to do the math.
Besides, I’m in toys so it will be difficult to compare our activities, it’s normal for me to have a big peak at the end of the year. And it even suits me that it’s quiet in July, it leaves me plenty of time to find treasures on sale and I take the opportunity to tidy up a bit before starting the busy period.
Thank you very much for your feedback, that’s good to know!
From what I’ve heard, it’s a bit the same on the clothing side: summer is generally much quieter, then activity picks up strongly with a strong Q4.
Of course, each sector has its own rhythms, so if some of you are in textiles or clothing, it would be great to have your feedback too for comparison!
From May/June to the end of August, it has always been quieter than the rest of the year (best period: from September to February), but this year it’s really much quieter than usual. But hey, it seems there’s a bug they still haven’t been able to fix… I wonder if the bot hunt isn’t related to all of this?
For your information, I sell clothes and accessories.
Hello!
For my part, I started selling quite regularly and seriously last September, as an individual. I had good results right away, until December-January. Then, I felt a slight slowdown.
At first, I did my reposts manually, then I discovered automatic tools, which clearly helped me to compensate for the decline. But overall, from February onwards, I noticed a real drop in visibility. I had fewer views, and I clearly had to fight harder than before to make sales. I put this down to the account’s age (around 400-500 reviews), which was perhaps becoming less favored by the algorithm.
Despite this, I was still able to maintain a decent turnover… until Vinted asked me to switch to a pro account, and that, probably at the worst possible time.
So I switched at the end of June, and officially opened my pro account on July 9th. And since then… it’s been catastrophic in terms of turnover. I put myself in « vacation mode » in the meantime, but since reopening, it’s been really very, very difficult.
Hi Faune,
To answer you:
I received a first message from Vinted around €8,000 in cumulative revenue, I would say around March/April 2025.
They said that sales for commercial purposes were prohibited on a private account. It wasn’t a formal request to go pro, more of a warning.
I didn’t react immediately, because I had strategically planned to go pro on July 1st.
But afterwards, I started having listings deleted, probably because of my AI photos, and a few reports too.
That’s when I told myself it was becoming risky.
To summarize and answer your question, I don’t think going pro is solely linked to revenue.
It’s more of a combination between:
your actual activity (volume, frequency, type of items…)
and above all, the triggering of Vinted’s algorithm (or a human review following a report)
Some people turn over €15,000 – €20,000 and remain private, while others at €3,000 are invited to go pro.
So for me, the real warning sign is when you receive an official message from Vinted.
From then on, you know your account is being watched, and that’s when you need to start asking yourself the right questions.
You only need to look at certain individual accounts that make hundreds of sales per month to see that it’s not necessarily the turnover. If there are new items, that’s a criterion that can trigger it. Also, if the same item is sold in multiple copies (like shoes in different sizes). And then, of course, reports for « mass selling ».
On a Facebook group for professional sellers, this is a problem that is frequently mentioned. Some started to be impacted around November/December and indeed, around February it seems to have accelerated. For me, that was clearly the case.
Afterwards, Vinted has this thing that has fascinated me from the beginning, it’s the only platform I’ve known that tries so hard to limit or punish its sellers.
I’ve just taken stock of my figures for the past few months.
I confirm that June and July of this year have been the worst months since I turned pro in October 2023. With July seeing a 50% drop compared to last year.
This is quite worrying, and the sharp decrease in my account’s visibility, despite being featured, is not reassuring.
So I just did my accounts too and June was catastrophic on Vinted. It’s simple, it was my worst month ever, apart from the month I created my pro account. Several factors to consider to see that something is wrong:
June is not my best month, but it’s usually a very decent month. July should be better, and this is really not normal.
The drop is only on Vinted; the other platforms have maintained their usual level, or even shown progress on eBay.
For example, I went from a ratio of 4 Vinted sales for one eBay sale to 1.5 Vinted sales for one eBay sale.
Strangely, sales picked up again by magic on Wednesday, and in 2 days I made half of my June turnover, even though it’s the end of the month and summer.
Same for views and favorites, and even followers. The pace was flat like sales since June, and now, as if by magic, it’s picking up again.
Absolutely no changes could explain this sudden magical recovery (I hope it lasts, but I’m not getting my hopes up too much), a few new items, but fewer than usual since sales slowed down purchases.
And the worst part is that, being in contact with other professionals, I’m not even that badly off; I’m managing, but I know that for some, it’s a real disaster.
My July is among the best of the year (without being the very best), and much better than July 2024. The sales breakdown, in terms of revenue, is Vinted / LBC / Rakuten at 50% / 33% / 17%. (In quantity, Vinted is even higher, but its average price is lower).
Vinted has completely exploded compared to other platforms: in 2024, Vinted only accounted for 20% of my revenue.
The good July figure is partly due to the speed of the carriers, with packages shipped on 7/29 delivered on 7/31 and immediately received by buyers. Clearly, there was no congestion in the warehouses.
The visibility problems noted and which cause sales problems concern pro accounts. As soon as my account is « active » I sell well. Moreover, quite a few pros mention that by putting their items on their personal account, they get 5 times more views and much faster sales.
Exactly. Personal accounts seem to be doing much better than professional ones.
I notice it right away when I have more visibility again, I start selling again all at once, but unfortunately it lasts less and less long and it takes longer and longer between each « wave ».
I also have this feeling of « waves, » a feeling sometimes distorted if someone decides to buy a large lot. But the impression, which could be tracked more precisely, is that it works in periods of 3-5 days.
Or, another interpretation, that after a certain number of sales, the algorithm puts me « behind » again, until it’s my turn again.
All of this is 100% subjective and open to debate
As I said in another post, there are objective elements that have been noted. Notably, ads no longer appear in the search engine when you search with another account. Also, professionals who have done tests with several accounts found that their ads only appeared with professional accounts and not with private accounts. And there were indeed these 5-day waves that quite a few people noted, but especially that were not there before.
Also, we must take into account that the scale of magnitude is not the same for everyone. For some, 20% fewer sales is a few euros, so they don’t even notice it, for others it’s a 4-digit number, so it’s more noticeable immediately.
and if in addition there are blockages due to stupid reports, it becomes complicated
Anyway, Vinted is not clear about this business of professionals. They are happy to register them but do everything to slow them down. As with the story of new items, « we are willing to… but not too much… but without really saying how much »
On the new items, the spirit seems clear: « we accept that you have 2-3 unworn items that were gifted to you by people with no taste, » so it’s acceptable to have a few new items with tags. But not for you to be a shop developing Vinted as an additional sales channel.
