Hello, I bought a dress for €140 in size XS from a seller based in Madrid on Vinted. It’s a brand I didn’t know and had never tried on as there’s no store in France. I asked her for the waist and bust measurements, which matched mine well (I even had 2cm less). Upon receiving my order, it didn’t match at all, and the dress is way too small. On top of that, it looks like it was machine-shortened.
Anyway, I opened a dispute requesting a refund and to send the dress back to her. After 48 hours, I got no response, so I escalated the issue to support, who took another 48 hours to reply. They told me they were giving the seller 4 days to respond and offer me a solution. My question is:
If she doesn’t respond/never responds, what happens? Will I still be refunded? It would be crazy if people could get away with lying merrily in an item description just by ghosting.
Hello, thank you for your feedback. She is a « private seller ». I don’t know if that makes any difference?
Vinted told me they were still waiting for her reply on D+2.
Hello - Returning a dress internationally is risky in my opinion. The return shipping costs will likely be considerable and if the seller doesn’t retrieve the item, it will get lost. Who will be reimbursed in that case, I don’t know? My advice would be to try to resell the item at a loss, but perhaps for less than the shipping cost.
If it’s a private individual as indicated above by Lukalf you will be refunded without having to return the item if there is no response from him to the dispute
She just replied at D+2. She offered to reimburse me for €70 and let me keep the dress, suggesting I resell it (and thus rip someone else off). I obviously refused.
She then offered to take the item back and give me a full refund. I’m afraid she won’t receive the package or will declare it non-compliant upon receipt. Do you have any tips to prevent such behavior?
