I would like to have opinions and advice regarding the packaging of items.
I occasionally sell inexpensive jewelry.
I pack in a bubble envelope, the jewelry is packed individually depending on the item. For example, if it’s a ring, I put it in a small rigid case that closes + a bubble pouch.
Once again, a buyer claims that the envelope was torn but accepted the package at the pickup point, and that half of the items are missing.
True or not?!
I provided no less than 8 photos taken at each stage of the packaging. Given that V (Vinted) very often sides with the buyer, I would like to know what more I can do in the future and how to defend myself in this kind of situation.
99.99% of the time, it’s not true…
Your jewelry was indeed inside, but you run into people who saw on social media that they could get the item + a refund.
This is called theft…
So, when this happens to you, send a message (non-aggressive and polite) indicating that you are going to file a complaint and that you will give their details to the Gendarmerie.
The latter will contact you shortly for the investigation… etc; etc…
9 times out of 10, she goes to the bathroom before sending you a message saying she found the jewelry.
However, I don’t have luxury jewelry and I always add a few things.
Many of us sell to make ends meet, she didn’t refuse the package, which is the minimum, she told me she had opened a dispute when she waited until the next day to do so.
If only I could trust the bots that manage support!
I had a similar issue, except the package was ripped open at the drop-off point. Likewise, the person still took it and opened a dispute.
Vinted sided with the buyer in 30 seconds flat when the dispute was opened, and they stole my money in the process without compensating me. Even though it’s blatant theft, with a photo taken directly from the pile of packages at the drop-off point..
Unless you take, as you say, 10 photos of your packaged item etc., the buyer will always be right for Vinted. Whether the buyer is the thief or the delivery person, it makes no difference to them, your package will always be « poorly packaged »
I just counted, I have exactly 12 photos of the packaging steps.
Bubble envelope + bubble bag + small bag + small rigid case to put the rings in.
I really don’t see how to make shipments more secure!
So yes, sometimes packages are received ripped open, intentionally during transport, but in that case, you refuse the package.
I sell occasionally, I sincerely think about quitting Vinted, the support is not impartial.
I don’t care about the items, but for the principle of the matter: no refusal of the package + I claim to have opened a dispute when it was done the next day, that’s suspicious. What did she want? For me to give her everything without saying anything.
Just for your information, in the carriers’ clauses, the sender must send in a rigid box and not an envelope, otherwise it is not covered. In case of dispute, the buyer just has to show that an envelope was used to get a refund, no further proof is needed for Vinted.
Some people know this and abuse it!
My advice; always send in boxes and if in doubt, consult the carriers’ clauses.
