Item arrived broken despite protection: what to do with Vinted refusing refund for "packaging defect"?

Hello, I sent a mug in bubble wrap plus shockproof boxes but unfortunately it arrived broken and Vinted sticks to a procedure that it’s necessarily a packaging defect even if you prove the contrary and the carrier, which is Mondial Relay, can do nothing if Vinted doesn’t make a claim. I find this unacceptable. Does anyone have a solution?

Thank you in advance.

Hello, do you have any feedback from them because the same thing is happening to me. I sent a hamster cage, it was packed with bubble wrap and protective paper balls, it arrived broken and supposedly poorly packed, so I’m out $50.

I won’t comment on your ongoing disputes, but to avoid this type of situation, I take photos of the items before packing and of the package after sealing with the shipping label (or even of the inside of the box if it’s not in a plastic sleeve).

I send them in the conversation right after the drop-off confirmation. I haven’t had any carrier issues in over 3 months since I started doing this…

Some people also film the packing, but I think it’s just storing videos for nothing because you can’t send the video… with photos, everyone is aware: the buyer and Vinted directly! And I can delete the photos from my phone as soon as I send them in the conversation, they are stored on Vinted’s servers

Hello - I advise not to fight to hope for something. An item that arrives broken is always the fault of the packaging, even if, as happened to me once, I had put double cardboard. For quite a few shipments of dishes, fortunately it rarely happens to me, but I think it is useless to make claims, especially for a mug. Accept losing a few euros. It preserves mental health. It’s part of the risks of selling. The merchant who has a physical store also suffers losses: theft, damage, etc.

Hello. As a seller, I just encountered this problem: 2 glasses broken out of 6, despite being very well protected.

Vinted offered me 3 solutions: issue a partial refund, request a return of all items, issue a full refund.

The buyer accepted a partial refund.

This is the first time Vinted has made these proposals to me. Usually, the buyer is fully refunded and can keep the items.

This is good news if we can now offer partial refunds. I once lost a lot because one out of four items was broken, and to get a refund, the buyer had to return everything. Having to return broken dishes!! It was so ridiculous that I accepted the full refund.
