Hello, I’m a seller and I sent a package with a pretty dress for €10. The buyer seemed in a hurry at first, then less so because I didn’t have time to send it right away. I sent the package and received a message from the buyer saying they had received the wrong package from the pick-up point and that their package had been given to someone else at that pick-up point. They opened a dispute, and my sale is now blocked. I contacted Vinted, and they replied that an investigation with the carrier is underway. A month later, while I haven’t received my money from the sale, I found MY dress in the buyer’s wardrobe for sale at 7 times its price, with another brand indicated to make it seem more expensive. I saw the photos and reported the issue to Vinted. I provided screenshots of my conversations with the buyer, the link to the listing, and explained my problem (it took many messages to send the screenshots, link, and explain my problem, and I know they don’t want multiple messages for the same dispute). But I’m also hesitant to report this scammer buyer too much, who might complete the sale because the listing has many favorites (at least 30) on the account. She lied to me because she did receive the package, and on top of that, she’s trying to make a significant profit at my expense. She claims Vinted hasn’t refunded her, but I have my doubts about that too, as it will likely be treated as a supposedly lost package. Have you encountered this type of scam, and if so, do you think Vinted will refund me?
Without having read the details, a few points:
- Nothing prevents buying at 10 to resell at 70. Bots do nothing but that
- The number of favorites means nothing. Bots generate them
The investigation with the carrier should take several weeks. For an amount of €10, you should get the funds after a while. Vinted must have given you a deadline. Don’t forget to follow up with them when that deadline expires.
Once all that is settled, you can report the buyer. I would refrain from doing so before then.
Vinted hasn’t given me a timeframe, I’m a bit scared they’ll cut the conversation and I’ll end up with nothing! I’m gutted because I had a lot of views on this dress, I sold it for €10 partly so as not to miss the wave and the excitement, and in the end I’ve encountered a real scammer who also has good reviews (9 in total). So you can’t see who you’re dealing with, but I really should have been more suspicious; it seemed too good to be true.
