Hello everyone. I’m writing this post to share the roadmap I followed after getting stuck in an absurd loop with Vinted. I’ve identified a specific technical glitch that seems to mainly affect sellers in Spain (individuals/self-employed) and that standard support is unable to resolve.
The problem is as follows: Vinted blocks your account, citing commercial activity, and urges you to become a Pro account, but their registration gateway constantly gives an error: « We haven’t found the NIF you entered. » This happens even if your VAT number is 100% legal and active.
If you are in this situation, here are the steps to escalate the case legally:
1. Gathering Proof of Validity
Vinted often claims your NIF is incorrect. To prove they are lying, you need:
-
VIES Certificate: Go to the European Commission website and verify your VAT number. If it says « Valid, » take a screenshot.
-
MangoPay Validation: Contact their support. If they have validated you but Vinted’s website has not, the fault lies exclusively with Vinted’s software.
-
Error Screenshot: Take a picture of the error message when entering the NIF on Vinted.
2. Final Warning to the Technical Team (Not General Support)
Don’t waste time with appeal bots. Use the specific help form for Vinted Pro. Send a concise, technical message:
-
Attach screenshots of VIES and MangoPay.
-
Mention that the error is on their platform and that they are preventing you from complying with their own Terms and Conditions.
-
Give them a deadline (e.g., 72 hours) before taking legal action.
3. Official Complaint to the Ministry (Spain)
If you receive another generic response, the internal route is exhausted. As this is a problem affecting Spanish users, I have escalated the situation to the competent body in Spain: the State Secretariat for Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA).
-
Procedure: Procedure 138 of the Electronic Headquarters (LSSI Complaints).
-
Legal Basis: Regulation (EU) 2019/1150 (P2B). This regulation requires platforms to be transparent and resolve technical conflicts that prevent a professional from accessing the market.
-
The Argument: Vinted imposes a condition (being Pro) that its own flawed software prevents you from meeting, resulting in an arbitrary block and economic damage.
4. Complaint Registration
Once submitted, the Ministry will give you an Official Registration Number. This is no longer a « complaint, » it is an open administrative file against the platform.
Final Note: I’ve noticed that this NIF error seems to be a bug in their database with Spanish formats. Don’t give up; if many of us report the same technical failure to the Ministry, they will be forced to fix the system once and for all.
I hope this guide helps you stop wasting time with the support chat!
