My account blocked abusively

Copy of the email sent today to Vinted support
Hello, on August 22, 2024, Vinted permanently blocked my account for « fraudulent activity ».
On the same day, after listing several items, tableware and an iron, Vinted sent me a message regarding the iron… telling me that my listings contained photos that violated copyright law, which is contrary to our Catalog Rules.
Therefore, we had to remove one or more of your listings.

I then sent them another photo of the iron with my Vinted username on it, stating that they were indeed my own photos that I had uploaded.
A few seconds later, an automatic message informed me that my listing had been removed because it was an « Item prohibited from sale (see message 03) ».

My account was blocked for « fraudulent activity » a few seconds later (see message 04).

I solemnly certify that I was not aware that my iron was an « prohibited » item for sale, because when comparing my listing on Vinted, other irons were for sale!!!. I am aware of my mistake, but blocking my account for « fraudulent reasons » is excessive!!!.
I wish for Vinted to unblock me and reinstate my account, because with over 180 positive reviews
(all 5 stars) I don’t think I deserved this.
Thank you. Sincerely.

No matter how many messages I send them, I only receive automatic replies!!!
What should I do? Thank you in advance for your advice!!!

I heard that some people have « contacts » at TCC to unblock the situation. (Vinted’s customer service in Tunisia is managed by the company Tunis Call Center (TCC), a provider specialized in outsourcing customer relations. TCC).

Otherwise, there is legal@vinted.fr

But don’t try to understand.

One time I posted some cassolettes, the first time it was accepted (they already have plenty on the site, I had checked).

Then I republished with clemz, and suddenly the article was rejected because it’s on the list of prohibited items. I contacted them to say that they have tons of them and that I’m the only one who got a warning, and in the end, no response.

They really aren’t logical.

Hello, did you send an email indicating your good faith and that indeed, despite your vigilance in respecting the catalog, you were deceived by seeing all the online ads with similar products?

I didn’t have your problem, but several times for invalid ad deletions, after an email complaint, they reactivated my ad.

Good luck!

Yes, I had sent an email about that, but as a result, I received no response from them.

We need to harass them. Remind them that in their terms and conditions, we must first receive a warning, etc.

In short, we need to be insistent.

Hello. What email address should I use to harass them? Because I’m going to bombard those assholes.

Hello Esther,

To answer your question: TCC (Tunis Call Center) is an external provider that manages a large part of Vinted’s « classic » customer service (Help Center, standard replies, dispute tracking via the app, etc.).

The address legal@vinted.fr, on the other hand, is indicated by Vinted as the contact for legal/regulatory questions and certain more « serious » disputes. According to public information, this is a channel directly linked to Vinted (legal/compliance team), and not to TCC. In any case, we have no evidence that this email address is entirely handled by the Tunisian call center.

In practice, disputes opened via the platform (« I have a problem » button, blocked account, etc.) go through customer support first, so often TCC. If you write to legal@vinted.fr with your account number, details of lost packages, written confirmations from the carrier, and a request for an explanation of the blocking, your request is supposed to be processed directly by Vinted.

On our end, we’ve ended up industrializing our procedures a bit, precisely because problems with Vinted are multiplying (and the more we sell, the more we have). We’ve created a dedicated project in ChatGPT with a system prompt that explains it needs to assist us in all our dealings with Vinted: we simply paste screenshots and dispute details, and it generates the appropriate texts for us. We then take these texts to copy/paste on SignalConso and the online pre-complaint website, which allows us to file « serial » reports and complaints. For small amounts, in practice, it’s not always necessary to go to the police station to finalize, so it remains manageable in volume.

Good luck with your future steps, don’t hesitate to keep everything in writing (package tracking, carrier responses, exchanges with Vinted), it can be useful if you need to go further (mediation, DGCCRF, etc.).

Hello Esther,

I completely understand your situation, especially with the contradictory messages you’ve received (illicit activity, violation of Terms and Conditions, poorly packaged parcel, 2-day deadline expired, etc.). The simplest approach is for you to start with a single, clear, and factual text that you can use both in the Help Center and, if you wish, by email (including to legal@vinted.fr).

Here is a proposed text adapted to your case, which you can complete with your parcel and transaction references:

Subject: Dispute of permanent account blocking and refusal of compensation – request for precise explanations and reassessment of my case

I am a user of the Vinted platform under the username [your username, e.g., esther.duval80], associated with the email address [your Vinted email].

My account was permanently blocked for « suspicion of identified illicit activity, » then for « illicit activity, » without you ever providing me with a precise explanation. At the same time, several transactions related to lost parcels were finalized or manually canceled to my detriment, even though the carrier confirmed the loss of the parcels and compensated you.

The facts are as follows:

  1. For each of the parcels concerned ([list: tracking number, date, amount…]):
    – I packaged the items correctly and took photos of the parcels before shipping;
    – I dropped off the parcels at a Pickup Point equipped with a video surveillance camera;
    – the carrier subsequently confirmed in writing the loss of the parcels.

  2. Despite this confirmation:
    – some orders were finalized or marked as « Everything is OK, » even though the parcels were never delivered;
    – other transactions were canceled with a full refund to the buyer;
    – in all cases, I received no compensation, even though I am not responsible for the loss of the parcels.

  3. To justify this refusal of compensation and the blocking of my account, I was successively presented with:
    – a « suspicion of identified illicit activity, » then « illicit activity » in connection with your General Terms and Conditions, without concrete details;
    – an alleged non-compliant packaging, without your services ever asking me for the photos of the parcels that I offered to provide;
    – exceeding the 2-day deadline after the « Delivered » status, even though the parcels were actually lost.

  4. Access to my conversations was blocked, and my help requests were automatically closed after each dispute opened, which now prevents me from properly tracking my cases and responding.

I formally dispute having engaged in any illicit or fraudulent activity on your platform. I have respected your rules, shipped the items in good faith, and the losses are exclusively attributable to the carrier, who, moreover, compensated you.

Consequently, I request that you:

  1. Provide me with the precise, detailed, and individualized reasons for the permanent blocking of my account:
    – what concrete facts are being held against me;
    – on what evidence you base your classification of my activity as « illicit »;
    – which clauses of your General Terms and Conditions were allegedly violated, and how.

  2. For each lost parcel, inform me:
    – the decision made (transaction finalized/canceled, beneficiary of the refund);
    – whether Vinted was indeed compensated by the carrier;
    – for what reason you refuse to reimburse me for this compensation as an aggrieved seller.

  3. Conduct a complete reassessment of my case, including:
    – the re-evaluation of the permanent account blocking measure;
    – the regularization of the sums owed to me for the lost parcels, in light of the carrier’s confirmation of loss and my lack of fault.

To date, your responses remain general and contradictory (« illicit activity, » « violation of general terms, » « poorly packaged parcel, » 2-day deadline expired), with no clear link to specific facts or to the evidence I have (photos of the parcels, proof of deposit, written confirmation from the carrier).

I would appreciate it if you would provide me with a written, clear, and reasoned response within a reasonable timeframe. I remain available to resubmit the photos of the parcels, the carrier’s documents, and any other relevant documents for the examination of my case.
