This morning I wanted to place an order with a German Vinted user. I was ordering a bundle of four items from her. And I wanted a small discount.
She didn’t accept, because she told me that the shipping costs were her responsibility. I don’t understand, because shipping costs have never been the seller’s responsibility. Moreover, when I clicked to buy, it clearly showed the shipping costs as my responsibility.
Our exchange was not at all clear, and she blocked me. Very disappointed, because I really liked what I was going to buy.
Do you know if what she was saying was true?
Hello @tiane030613,
Since you’ve already sold to a German buyer, no, the fees are not the seller’s responsibility but the buyer’s.
In any case, on the platform, the rule regarding shipping costs is the same for everyone: shipping and seller protection fees are the buyer’s responsibility.
Try to see with someone you know who also has a Vinted account to make the transaction?
It seems that Germans are asking to do transactions outside the Vinted payment system, using PayPal Friends & Family, and the buyer has to pay for shipping. The misunderstanding might stem from this.
But it’s strange that Vinted is turning a blind eye to this; we’ve seen blocks for less, unless they’re turning a blind eye to get things started.
perhaps they know that Germans love and use PayPal a lot.
And since Vinted no longer offers PayPal, perhaps they are saying nothing because otherwise there would be no one on it anymore.
