Hello, are the delivery fees for purchases in Germany and other countries as high as in Austria? (7.99 for 2 jeans) Fuel increase by carriers?
Hello Julilou44,
The weight of the package has nothing to do with it.
Package shipping prices are exclusively set by the sales platform (Vinted, Le Bon Coin, eBay, etc., etc.). This is their only source of income along with commission and advertising. It doesn’t matter if fuel prices rise or any other economic consideration. These sales platforms have millions of website visitors each month (number of clicks). This is what interests shipping companies.
In 2025, Vinted France attracted 23 million internet users per month. Le Bon Coin has around 30 million visitors per month. eBay France has 12 million visitors per month. This puts resale platforms in a strong position during annual negotiations with each shipping company.
Therefore, each shipping company accepts a minimum price per package (no package shipping is rewarded above €1 per package delivered, regardless of its weight and size). €1 per package, millions of times per month on Vinted + on Le Bon Coin + on eBay + on… etc., etc., shipping companies are satisfied with this. It’s the law of supply and demand!
So, above this €1 paid to each shipping company, the rest of the amount paid by each buyer (shipping fees) goes entirely into the pockets of each resale platform, as does the commission amount. Why do you think these platforms are billionaires?
And in the case of the excessive increase you noticed, it’s very simple: the platforms play yo-yo with the displayed shipping fee amounts, depending on the money they want to earn. Shipping company prices are negotiated to be applied from January 1st to December 31st, so perhaps Vinted is playing squirrel and making provisions in advance ![]()
.
Sincerely.

thanks for the insight! : sales platforms are really stingy! (considering how delivery drivers have to work!)
Yes, unfortunately
.
This is why you should Always offer the lowest possible shipping fee for buyers…
Vinted already profits enough from the shipping fee margin.
Yes, international fees on Vinted have increased enormously in recent years ![]()
Austria is one of the most expensive destinations, but Germany can also quickly become pricey depending on the carrier and the size of the package.
I mainly think it’s due to carrier agreements + the overall increase in logistics/fuel costs. For some small items, it’s becoming almost prohibitive for buyers, unfortunately ![]()
