Good evening,
Do you have any tips for packing dishes and fragile items? I’m always afraid they’ll arrive broken at their destination.
Thank you for your ideas and advice.

Hello - I like selling dishes but I don’t like packing them.
If not too bulky, I use 2 boxes. Each item is wrapped separately in old newspapers, all of that in a first box, then more newspapers and a 2nd box. Despite this, I have had breakages. In this case, I don’t blame the carrier, it’s me who wasn’t careful enough, so I refund.
With experience, what I’ve noticed: the items shouldn’t float, of course, but they shouldn’t be too tight either because that exerts pressure. You need to leave a little « spring ». If you pack plates too tightly, for example, in case of pressure, the outer plates will break the middle ones.
Accidents have been quite rare, but of course, when it happens, it’s infuriating.
Hello ![]()
I already sold a completely glass tea set, and it arrived in perfect condition. And yet, a simple glass candle holder arrived broken. I think the shipping carrier had something to do with it. But, anyway, my tip for fragile items:
Use a thick-grained box that is already thick enough to absorb shocks.
Fill all holes and spaces with various solutions: rice paper, paper balls, bubble wrap, newspaper, torn cardboard…
I shake the box before shipping; if it moves, it’s not well protected enough.
Ensure that even if there are shocks, the box holds up thanks to internal cardboard pieces for double protection.
In any case, sometimes, given how our packages are handled, you can do your best, and it won’t make a difference.
Have a nice day ![]()
