Hello everyone,
I bought a PS3
There is little doubt: it’s a scam. The ad talks about a « game » with « three classics, » but you didn’t receive a game.
The simplest thing to do is to return the item, stating that the product is incomplete or not functional. You will have to pay for return shipping yourself.
Obviously, you should report the seller to Vinted, which will only be useful if others report them as well.
So I sell video games, and his ad is clearly ambiguous to mislead the buyer.
What really bothers me is his '“sold complete with box only” so it’s not complete (far from it) when just before he indicates “game for Playstation 3”. But indeed, he is cunning because thanks to the precision he can absolve himself of all responsibility. And what’s more, he lists the games in the compilation, just to mislead you properly.
Otherwise, the simplest thing is not to pick up the package. You will be fully refunded like that.
Thank you for your response.
Should I report it?
I have not yet received the item, it is on its way.
I asked him the evening before sending with a read receipt and the next day he replied this to me after sending.
If you do not collect the package, you will not be able to file a dispute. So the simplest thing to do is nothing, let the thing pass, in any case you will be refunded.
I advise you not to go to pick up the package. It will be returned to the sender, and you will be refunded.
He will not receive his money and will get his item back, but he will have to wait a loooong time.
If I were you, I would still report the scam to Vinted right now. As already mentioned, the ad clearly states « PS3 game » and not « empty box for PS3 game » and insists with « sold complete ». Furthermore, it seems to me that Vinted’s terms and conditions do not allow the sale of empty boxes/packaging. I don’t remember where it’s written and I’m a bit too lazy to look!
Try to do it by email to Legal Vinted (I don’t remember the exact address) to get a human response.
EDIT: I searched the terms and conditions and I did not (re)find anything concerning empty boxes in the prohibitions. it must no longer be current or I dreamed it. Nevertheless, this ad remains a scam.
There is a rather detestable practice in the video game resale market (on titles that have a certain value) of separating items to sell the box and the CD separately. For retro titles, they even go as far as selling the box, the manual, and the cartridge separately.
Moreover, it’s generally done in a completely unapologetic way (basically, the three listings are side-by-side), and personally, these are the kinds of sellers that make me run away. Soon they’ll be removing the PCB from the plastic cartridge.
Hello,
Be vigilant, these kinds of ads are appearing more and more, especially for Pokemon items.
They write a huge description, and right at the end they indicate that the box is empty, for example.
In my opinion, their account should be reported en masse for fraud.
If you don’t pick up the package, I don’t know if you won’t risk a bad review, it’s up to you.
But this is clearly a scam, especially the fact of indicating « complete with box only »
