Hello, I am a 22-year-old, a big fan of Pokémon since 2007. We are trying to buy back all the items available that we don’t own. We placed an order yesterday on Vinted for €380 including shipping. However, we realized with a friend (a professional seller) who owns this item that it is absolutely not authentic! He showed me that it sells for €7 on AliExpress. French Pokémon displays always say: « Play the Pokémon TCG Live », and we unfortunately didn’t notice the « play »: I am attaching photos of the order placed, as well as the one on AliExpress. I clearly told the seller that it was a fake and to cancel the transaction, but he had already registered the shipping label, so it was impossible for me to request a refund. What should I do? Wait for the package to arrive, pick it up and declare that it is in no way authentic, or second option, my friend tells me that if I leave the package at a relay point, after a week I will be refunded and the seller will get the counterfeit back? Thank you very much.
If it’s a counterfeit and you can prove it, report it. Otherwise, once their package is returned, they will put it back on sale and scam someone else.
Normally, Vinted cancels the sale in case of counterfeiting. And does not require the buyer to return the package.
Hello!
Yes, indeed, if you don’t pick up your package, you will be refunded and the package will be returned to the seller
In any case, that’s the rule that applies until the beginning of September because after that there will be the new T&Cs and I’m wondering if there hasn’t been a modification regarding that… ^^
My first concern, I must admit, is my reimbursement, but I have already had 15 items removed from their Vinted for counterfeits, so I hope they will be restricted!
Hello. Oh great! He sent the order today when I clearly said 3 times to cancel the transaction!! Vinted is brushing me off, « I have to go pick it up when it arrives and prove it’s fake » but that doesn’t work for me, if Vinted finds my dispute is incorrect then I lose €380 and the buyer wins everything? I admit I have that fear..
Good evening
Do not pick up the package. Ownership is transferred upon receipt. So as long as you don’t pick it up, it’s not your package, but theirs. Keep a close eye on the return. There are sometimes bugs. I have already received counterfeits or Vinted concluded that they could not rule. So I had to keep the counterfeit. So I do not recommend receiving.
Yes, don’t go pick up the package, it could be complicated afterwards.
That’s bad faith, the seller can cancel the sale as long as the package has not been dropped off. The buyer can also request cancellation, it’s just that the seller will be asked to accept it or not (in case they have already dropped off the package).
Yes, they think they can force the sale by sending the package. I calm them down with a message like:
Hello, I have canceled the purchase. Please do not send the package. It will not be picked up and will be automatically returned to you.
If that’s not enough, I add that they remain the owner as long as the package is not received and that I hope their package will not get lost during the round trip. At that point, I get responses like: I was able to reach my husband before he dropped it off, my father was able to pick it up in time…
Afterwards, I admit that on eBay, the buyer can no longer cancel the sale once the shipping label has been created, and they are not fully refunded if they do not collect the package, which suits me very well as a seller. But I don’t have any AliExpress counterfeits in my shop. I am still a proponent of building a long-term trusting relationship with my customers.
The person knew very clearly that they were selling a counterfeit, and they were selling a second one which was also fake. I reported it, but I don’t know if it was sold or removed by Vinted… people nowadays, it’s become sad.
I did the same as you, but you still decided to send… frankly, it’s sad..
Thank you very much for your feedback, that’s what I’ll do, unfortunately..
Will I receive my refund when the package leaves my pickup point, or when the sender receives it at their pickup point?
Hello. I’m talking about Vinted, I haven’t bought on eBay, but thank you for the explanation, I’ll know if I have to buy on eBay ![]()
At the moment the seller confirms the good receipt of the return ![]()
Hello, and what if he doesn’t pick up the package at the relay point? Because I’m not going to pick it up at the relay point, so it will be returned there, but if he doesn’t receive it, where does my money go if I have to wait for him to go get it and he doesn’t?
yes I understood, I was answering Amande and specifying to show that the operation was not the same everywhere.
Don’t worry, as long as you don’t pick it up, it’s not your problem, you’ll be refunded. On the other hand, the seller risks losing both the sale and his merchandise if he doesn’t go to pick it up, even if in this case it would just be a little bit of Karma that won’t make us shed tears.
If the seller doesn’t pick it up, it comes directly to you and stops there. This happens to me regularly: I get a refund and I get to keep an item, even if it’s often not a great item. And you don’t have to go pick it up since you’re already refunded. You have to keep an eye on these packages because sometimes it’s a bit wild, but don’t hesitate to come back and tell us about it.
Hello, and what if the seller doesn’t pick up the return?
I have the same problem with a pair of sneakers. The package is waiting for me, but I won’t go get it. It will therefore go back to the seller, but what if the seller doesn’t pick up the returned sneakers? Because as soon as he got my payment, he blocked his account, the scoundrel, to prevent me from canceling the transaction!
If he doesn’t pick up these sneakers, will I be refunded? Thank you.
