I’d like to know how you manage individual boosts. Personally, I try to use them in addition to republications, but I’ve noticed that it doesn’t always translate into sales.
I’m therefore wondering how wise it really is to use boosts, and if it isn’t ultimately a bit expensive compared to what it brings.
hello - in my opinion, boosts or featured listings don’t bring anything. For example, a boost on an item that has generated 47 favorites and still hasn’t sold after several months despite offers from me. Republishing is a better strategy, but that’s just my perception and it’s subjective.
Republication is certainly the best thing, which of course also makes a booster useless if you republish because you republish, so you put your article back at the top, much more effective than a booster which is also paid for.
Regarding the showcase, I have a big problem this week, but before this week I noticed that it generated quite a few subscriptions, so a growing potential for your shop.
I understand your point of view, but from what I’ve seen, I don’t entirely agree.
From what I’ve read and tested, republication is indeed very useful for getting an article to the top of search results.
On the other hand, I’ve noticed that when I boost an article, it often gets many more views and favorites than with a simple republication.
Concrete example: an article published for the first time got 40 views and 10 favorites. When I republished it, it dropped to less than 10 views for 1 favorite. Whereas with a boost over a week, it generated much more activity.
Do you never use individual boosts? Or do you still use them on certain « strong » articles?
Boosting costs money and isn’t more effective. I reposted 1 article yesterday and already have 81 views and 17 favorites - this new article had already generated the same enthusiasm when I boosted it but zero sales. There, I received 2 low offers (10 euros for 16 euros originally) so I declined. You also shouldn’t get buyers used to having anything at any price. I am also a buyer and I don’t negotiate. I sometimes buy after an offer from the seller but I don’t ask for anything.
The problem is that I’m dealing with items under €10 that are often sold in bundles, so considering the item boost, it’s clearly not profitable for me!
And well, I republish massively during peak hours, so my items always end up selling. For me, the item boost is just throwing money down the drain.
The opinions gathered here and there in recent months can be summarized as: « boosts are too uncertain for what they cost. » Testimonials of sales after boosts exist but are much rarer than sales without boosts.
And there’s the worst-case scenario: you pay for the boost, but the sale is canceled (the buyer withdraws, doesn’t pick up the package, opens a dispute…). You don’t get a refund for the boost…
