SMS confirmation for withdrawing money from wallet

Hello everyone,

The problem that worries me concerns the money currently in my Vinted wallet and how to get it back.

Vinted has permanently blocked my account for « illicit activity » on a polka dot dress that my daughter no longer fits into… This is incomprehensible, and I don’t seem to be the only one in this situation, but the problem that worries me most concerns the funds in my Vinted wallet.

Originally, I used the money from my sales to buy other clothes on Vinted, so I never needed to transfer money to my bank account. I have therefore never registered a bank account on Vinted.

I now want to retrieve the money from my wallet, but I am encountering a problem: when I try to add my bank account to make a withdrawal, Vinted asks for SMS confirmation.

However, the phone number associated with my account is an old number that I forgot to change for several years. I therefore no longer have access to this number and it is impossible for me to receive the verification SMS.

So I find myself with money in my Vinted wallet, but with no possibility of adding it to my bank account because of this old phone number.

Has anyone ever been in this situation or knows how to proceed to recover their money in this case?

I’m afraid the money will be stuck indefinitely, or even permanently, because of the account block and the old phone number…

Thank you in advance for your help and advice

There is nothing to be done on the automatic procedures side, and it will only be partially Vinted’s fault; their service provider Mangopay is also involved, with its identity verification procedures.

If the sum is sufficiently large, you can try sending a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt (LRAR) with all the elements proving your identity and the link to the Vinted account. It’s not certain that it will work, but if it’s about recovering more than 10 times the cost of the LRAR, why not.

PS: I never leave more than €20 in my Vinted account, precisely to avoid exposing myself to this risk.

Hello

Have you tried appealing your block? Because blocks for illicit activities are often checked by humans if you appeal. If the article is not suspicious, there is no reason to be blocked either. So maybe they could reconsider their decision and unblock your account
