Good evening,
I started selling my personal belongings a few months ago on Vinted and I noticed that all potential buyers who ask me for more photos or endless measurements (armpits, chest, sleeves, insole, worn garment, etc.), never buy anything!
Those who buy do so instantly without asking questions, or else to make an offer.
I’m thinking of stopping responding because it takes me a crazy amount of time to unpack items that I’ve stored in chests with a compression system, for ultimately absolutely no return.
Are you in the same situation or is this feeling only concerning me?
Yes, same here, for example, to take the case of my bag, it was the same, lots of questions for nothing.
And it’s not just on Vinted, on seconde main by kiabi too (I know because I have a boost group on it), and lots of new accounts that ask for photos worn, sometimes (for girls: photos of the swimsuit worn but without a bra… (I’m not the one saying it)).
It seems logical that when people are well-informed, most of the time your product isn’t right for them.
What’s not normal is the lack of politeness when they don’t say thank you and don’t keep you updated. It’s indeed frequent, but not only from those who ask for clarification (in my opinion).
Personally, I take photos of the labels, I indicate the dimensions, and I never have any questions. And when I sell, I never have returns, because people bought with full knowledge.
I hope this helps you.
I always respond, and I add this requested information to my ad, so for me it’s not a waste of time, even if it annoys me.
By default, I take the measurements and note them in the ad, so it saves me questions of this kind. After all, I also like to have certain measurements.
The simplest way, even if it takes time, is to include the measurements when you list the item online.
When I used to sell clothes, I would include the measurement from top to bottom and the width from armpit to armpit. And the length from the waist for skirts and pants.
I also took a photo of the size tag.
For sleeves, no, I didn’t do that.
You can directly state that you don’t have time to take new measurements. And always refuse worn clothes without bras. It’s suspicious, there are quite a few perverts on clothing sites.
I always indicated that I did not take photos of myself wearing the items.
And for people who don’t read the description, simply repeat what you put in the description, courteously.
The rudeness of people is phenomenal. No greetings, sometimes the question directly without subject or object (« Size? »).
Well, that’s life! You have to deal with it, unfortunately we can’t take everyone back, at the risk of being insulted. I once had the misfortune to politely reply that my price was firm, the person called me an idiot. There you go, thank you, goodbye!
I really like your question @Clovis because it’s a classic in entrepreneurship: the « potential client » who is already very picky before even buying is often a sign that they will cause you twice as many problems without necessarily bringing you twice as much money.
And often they don’t buy anything at all!
This applies to ALL businesses. Not just Vinted ![]()
But I agree with the other answers: take the time to put all the information on your listings because it’s normal to inform your buyers well. But once the information is there, endless discussions are often a waste of time ![]()
ah yes, that happens to me too from time to time.
« You’re on Vinted, obviously »
A joy ![]()

I put the measurements on my listings and if they have other requests, I try to satisfy them.
Personally, I’m short and I often ask for the length of clothes. So I understand other people’s requests.
It happens that I am asked for dimensions, I provide them and I get no feedback. On the other hand, it allows me to put it on the ad afterwards ![]()
80% of the time, it doesn’t lead to anything and I don’t even get a thank you, or an explanation, but we won’t change the world. Politeness is disappearing! ![]()
When I am asked if it runs large or small, I prefer not to comment because we all have different bodies and I don’t think that question is very useful. Same for my daughter’s clothes, it depends on the body type.
I always answer these kinds of questions, but it’s frustrating when there’s no thank you
at least there’s this
One time, I thought someone was making fun of me. I was selling a water bottle for €1. They started asking me for the diameter of the screw-on cap… Really the least important thing for its use..
Then I turned the question back to find out if it was to replace a cap from another water bottle.
Answer: Yes!
But to be really sure it was serious. I asked her for photos of her cap, and I would let her know as soon as I could compare it with mine.
She sent the photos, I compared, it was okay, she bought it ![]()
Personally, I’m one of those who might need measurements because I have an unusual body type. (1m82 and very thin, for a woman it’s a struggle)
But I always take the time to thank + inform if it will fit me or not. That’s not the case for everyone ![]()
I’ll put the dimensions in the ad by default, and the worst are the ones who ask for the measurements when they’re already there… you’d think nobody knows how to read anymore ![]()
Hello everyone ![]()
Yes, I always reply to messages, but since I’ve been posting many photos and descriptions, questions have become very rare.
Same as for some people; there isn’t always a hello, please, or thank you.
For my part, I reply, but without much hope.
Like this morning on Kiabi (yes, I’m not only on Vinted), I received a message:
The fake: Still available?
My reply: Yes, I just posted it.
The fake: Is it possible to send it to my daughter by email…
My reply: Hop, blocked and reported directly.
Oh yes, the size of the bottleneck matters!! Well, for me, yes ![]()
For requests, I respond, I update my ad and take great pleasure in asking for follow-ups… ![]()
