Masked photos is it because of AI?

Good evening,

I recently started selling on Vinted and have done a lot of reading and research. Initially, I took photos on a mannequin with a white background and lighting from a softbox. However, I noticed I had very few views despite the good quality of my photos. I then decided to use an AI-generated photo of the item being worn as the first image, which strongly resembles the clothing. Behind it, I included at least 6 photos showing close-ups, distance shots, side views, tags, etc. I detail everything in the description.
I’ve seen hundreds of AI photos on the platform and had read that as long as there are photos of the actual item included afterwards, it’s not an issue (I include at least 6). Initially, there were no problems, but this is the second item that gets published with many views and favorites, but after about 20 minutes, I receive a message from Vinted and it gets hidden.

I wrote to support to contest this, clearly asking if AI was forbidden for the first photo, and if that was the reason. I just received a robotic response saying to use better quality photos and listing everything I’m already doing - white background, multiple photos, etc.

I sent another message stating that my question about AI and why my photos weren’t clear wasn’t being answered, but again, no response, just: « We would like to inform you that we have carefully reviewed your previous message and have adequately responded in the previous message. Â»

As I am new and would like to do everything correctly, my goal is not to deceive people but simply to get more visibility.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Do you have any advice?

Thank you very much in advance.

There are quite a few topics about AI photos on the Vinted (France) Reddit, maybe you’ll find more info there. Reading them, you mostly get the impression that Vinted never blocks anything, which, um, is very false.

Hello!

It happens that buyers report items with AI photos. (I’ve already had this happen.) Have you looked at your reports?

Thank you for your responses.

I looked and indeed there are 2 reports for « photo from the web Â».
Can we not see who reported it?

What should I do? I even saw a paid app to generate AI photos specifically for Vinted. How do others do it?

And this is the first time I’ve contacted Vinted by email, but there is no answer to my questions, just a standard text. Is it impossible to get a real person from support?

Thank you very much.

Hello,

No, the report is anonymous.
On my end, I reposted the item using the Clemz.app backup and I sold my item quite quickly (within 48 hours after, I think).
To get an agent on Vinted support, you have to insist a little

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply, but I was very busy. Thank you for your response.
Do you advise me to take Clems? I admit that I hesitate a little with all the worries I hear about republication, messages to favorites, etc. How is that going?

Hello,

What issue are we talking about? I use Clemz every day to publish/republish and send messages to favorites, I have no messages from Vinted and I save time managing my closet

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

I hear and see many videos saying that Vinted now detects what is automated (messages to favorites, purchase with bot, reposting). Some advise not to use them anymore for a while. Because quite a few accounts have had problems from what I’ve heard.

So regarding Clemz, I won’t have any issues?

Thank you very much anyway for your reply.

We must not fool ourselves, Clemz is heavily attacked by the competition. As soon as there are waves of bans or technical problems on Vinted, others take the opportunity to push their own tool.
For my part, it’s the same: I haven’t had any issues, and I use it every day for republication.

Hello,

We cannot guarantee it 100%, Vinted’s T&Cs remain unchanged regarding the use of any « external software Â»: they clearly prohibit it. So there will always be a risk of sanctions.
Zero risk will never exist, but for now, Clemz works without issues for hundreds of people (every day) and without any negative consequences.

You can also check the reviews for Clemz on the ChromeStore: www.clemz.app/extension

You will see that no one mentions being banned: you can imagine that if someone had lost their account because of Clemz, they would not have hesitated to talk about it here…

@Giuliano69 Thanks for the support! :folded_hands:

Hello @lila_4 and welcome
I strongly advise you to continue taking your photos yourself, on a mannequin or otherwise, there are quite a few denunciations on Vinted and many Vinted users report when they spot an AI photo, you can download your data to check this

Regarding Clemz, I advise you to test it and form your own opinion, I think I’ve been using it for over a year and no problems

I also advise you to stop using AI for now if you want to be left alone by Vinted.
I tested it, and several of my listings were hidden and I received quite a few reports.
As a result, I preferred to give up and go back to good old classic photos.

Thank you very much for all your answers and clarifications.

Yes, I know not to believe everything, but the current context is a bit scary, especially since I saw someone on TikTok talking about having had problems with Clemz, but as you say, there is no zero risk.

For AI photos, since I put a personal background (I don’t know if that’s it), but in any case, I haven’t had any more problems… for now, at least.

Thank you for your clarifications, I think I will try, especially since the first month is free.

Thanks again everyone

2 listings removed today for the following reason:

Please note that the following items are prohibited from sale:

  • Tattoo kits, piercing machines, tanning beds, and massage tables

  • Industrial, professional, or high-performance power tools

Given that the 2 listings are swimsuits with zippers.

NICKEL :ok_hand:
Right in the right category :grimacing:

Unless it’s a jersey for high-performance pros :open_mouth:

No, if you follow the advice, there will be no problem.

Hello Lucile, what application do you use?

Will Clemz offer you this service soon?!

Hello Marjorie,
I’m doing it directly via Google Studio AI and ChatGPT now.
I used to use another very simple software, which is VintyLook. (You get 1 credit by clicking on the link and signing up) while waiting for Clemz to offer these features (Probably in 2026 :zipper_mouth_face:)

I no longer take my photos with AI because all my ads were being flagged… so I went back to my old way of doing things with my good « old Â» mannequin! Not only do I no longer have any flags, but I also sell better since I stopped using AI (people don’t trust it, I think…). In short, these abusive flags have ultimately been a positive thing for me!
