Mediocre search engine

Hello - I just experienced this. I unfortunately reposted an ad that seems to already exist. When searching my shop before posting, I didn’t find it and here is the threat in bold: .( **If the situation were to happen again, we might have to block your account for 7 days, or even permanently) - as if I were a criminal.

I took the trouble to create hashtags for my shop so that buyers could find their way around, and when I click on them, I find myself with a lot of items that are not mine and that I would not personally post because they do not do justice to my profile.
If anyone knows how to find their way around this « mess », I would be delighted.

Vinted’s search engine is designed to show items similar to the one requested, not to provide the exact item requested. This makes sense for clothes: one can be convinced by a slightly different cut, by another color, etc.

For categories like cultural goods, it is much less suitable. I can accept that someone looking for « Rocky 2 » might also buy « Rocky 3 », but someone who wants « The Order of Things » by Michel Foucault will certainly not buy « The hairdresser’s steam hair » or « CE1 word range » or « letter about today’s children », to cite the search results from the first line.

What is also very curious is that being more precise in the search gives worse results. Searching for « The Order of Things » is, for example, better than « The Order of Things, by Michel Foucault ».

Yes, I understand. My problem is not with the search engine in general, but with the search engine for my own items. The engine can’t even find one of my listings, which leads to duplicates that result in threats of account closure. It’s more than annoying. On LBC, you can easily search only within your own shop.

Not at all: this basic function is missing on Vinted, namely searching within one’s own listings (only).

Hello!
With smart dressing on Clemz, it’s possible :right_arrow: 🔍 Smart dressing - Clemz

There is no search engine for one’s own shop, for oneself, or for customers. Which is obviously detrimental.
We have clemz, the customers… nothing. Hence the idea of hashtags, which work poorly due to the way Vinted’s search functions, as I explained in another post.

Lucile - you suggest smart dressing. I intend to try it upon my return from vacation. It seems interesting to me, but I understood that it’s better to use it in small doses. Furthermore, it will be a pleasure for me to give the developer a boost.

Hello!
You can use the smart dressing… in large quantities  why do you want to use it sparingly?

That’s kind, thank you, we’ll note it. Feel free to send us your suggestions by email if you wish.
Happy selling

@Lucile - When I say small dose, it’s to avoid being spotted by Vinted, which I think doesn’t like the use of « bots. »
I’ve already been kicked off Vinted in the past because I was selling items that were forbidden at the time, for example: a butter dish, a book on knitting, etc., and also due to reports - When you see what can be sold now, anything and everything, I have fun. They’ve probably changed their tune due to competition from Le Bon Coin.
Back in the forum days, people would get revenge for nothing.
Now I’m very careful because I had to harass them to get my account back.

I understand better
The use of smart dressing is not as « controlled » as republications, for example.
But yes, indeed, today many more categories of items are allowed. :slightly_smiling_face:

What causes problems every time for a while now is the bulk price modification. Maybe it’s too fast?
