Vinted account blocked after package dispute – possible misunderstanding

Good evening,

My Vinted account has been permanently blocked for « illicit activity »; this is clearly a misunderstanding.

Here’s the context: I sold an item. After the sale, the package was returned because the buyer did not collect it, or due to a delivery error – we’ll never know. When I received the returned package, it was badly damaged and bent (thanks to the couriers! Sometimes I wonder what they do with the packages).

I therefore contacted Vinted support to report the condition of the package and the item, sending the photos requested by an advisor or the AI!

Immediately after this exchange, my account was permanently suspended without a precise explanation, with a message mentioning illicit activity and a lot of nonsense.

I don’t understand this block, as my intention was simply to report a delivery problem and get help with a damaged package.

I’m trying to find out if others have already experienced a similar situation and if a block like this could be an error or an automatic system trigger.

Thank you for your feedback.

Hello @Ln44

Could the product in question have had some ambiguity?
Was it authorized for sale?
If not, another inconsistency from the Bot, as often happens at the moment…

Yes, it happens more often than we think. Many « illicit activity » blocks are automatic and sometimes completely off the mark. Especially when there are:

package dispute

photos sent to support

moderation AI that misinterprets an object/photo

too many reports in a short period

The worst part is that the human support behind it sometimes doesn’t even really read the context before the automatic sanction…

On the other hand, a permanent ban right after a simple package customer service case, if everything you say is true, seems excessive. I would try:

replying to the ban email

requesting escalation to a human

insisting that it was solely a shipping customer service request

asking specifically which rule was broken

Because the « illicit activity » messages on Vinted are often very vague.

Thank you for your feedback.

No, the product is a small decorative item and nothing more, in no way related to an illicit product or a product banned from online sale.

Yes, from what I see, I am far from being the first!

Thank you for your feedback.

I myself don’t understand, I was completely surprised, I assure you.

For a simple return of a package that was completely damaged (I could even say bent!) this permanent block is completely abusive and disproportionate.

I replied to their message, but each time their response is incoherent… I received a first response:

"From my end, if I had the possibility to help you resolve this dispute differently, I would never have hesitated to do so. But we are forced to follow the process.

I am hopeful that this incident will be the last and that your next experiences with us will be successful and fully satisfactory.

Thank you for your understanding. Hoping that next time, everything will go as smoothly as possible.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to consult our Help Center: Centre d'aide | Vinted.

Then another one:

"We are sorry to hear that the response provided to your request did not meet your expectations.

If you have questions on another topic, do not hesitate to submit a new request, we will do our best to help you.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

First they block my account, then they tell me next time you will be successful, and then a final decision! Total incoherence, I assure you…

Where can I reach them? phone number, email, address, I don’t know, I will try everything, I assure you. If anyone in this forum has gone through this experience and succeeded or not in getting it unblocked, I am totally open to your advice.

Thank you very much for your help :folded_hands:

Yes… it’s exactly the same thing when you receive an automatic message asking you to post ads when your account is blocked :worried:
They tell you you’re going to shine, but they keep you fenced in :sad_but_relieved_face:

In any case… let’s remain discreet, even transparent, with Vinted :joy:
