Hello everyone!
New feature observed since yesterday on my end: some items are indicated as « in demand » on sellers’ wardrobes and in search results (on the app as well as on the website)
What do you think?
Hello!
I haven’t seen this before… what would it correspond to? Articles that have had offers accepted and are about to be sold…
it reminds me of something that already exists on Le Bon Coin « purchase in progress » when a transaction is being made, payment pending and the ad still online.

Hello, hello ![]()
I’m also curious about this new feature. I don’t have this update on my end yet, but I saw it mentioned on Thread, where people were talking about it.
I can’t quite figure out what it’s for, and if it really leads to a purchase following the « request »
Is it possible that similar products are being searched for, and/or sold recently?! but well, is there any point in knowing that?
I’ll wait and see!
Have a good day ![]()
Hello, it means an offer has been made on the item.
Hello!
How do you know? Have you experienced it?
Hello
I’m not really sure what this corresponds to either
This new feature leaves me perplexed too, the indication is not very… accessible, let’s say.
Yes, I’ve had this happen several times. I’m a seller on Vinted, and this message appeared every time I received an offer on one of my items (even before I accepted it). You can easily test it, and you’ll see.
I did the test yes, but it doesn’t show up ![]()
The mystery continues a bit. What could this badge mean?
Is it a sign for sellers that this type of item sells well?
Or a sign for buyers that the item will be sold if they don’t act fast?
Given the testimony of @maloup25 and if I put myself in Vinted’s shoes, I would lean towards the latter option. Creating a sense of urgency for buyers is a classic digital marketing tactic…
But then again, it’s strange that the badge doesn’t appear for everyone. The feature must be in the deployment phase.
Strange… It happens to me every time. Have you tried making an offer on an item?
Yes, yes, I’ve had offers on items but the badge doesn’t appear.
Perhaps you don’t see it because they are your articles. If you make an offer to someone, the mention will surely appear.
I asked a friend to look in my dressing room, she doesn’t see the mention either ![]()
Hello, I’ve tried to do some research on my own to find out what criteria Vinted uses to award or not award the badge. This way, I can use it to adapt my listings!
I’m sharing what I found and noticed, hoping it can help you leverage it:
The badge only appears on other sellers’ listings; it’s impossible to know if some of our items are concerned by checking our own wardrobe. I have items that are indicated as « in demand » for others (seen by a friend) while I don’t see the badge on my end when checking my wardrobe.
Between Vinted’s communication in their « how are recommendations made » section and ChatGPT, which I consulted to find out how the badge was awarded, the two answers align. It would be based on the number of sales of similar items at the moment, the number of searches with keywords contained in the titles or listings, and the quality of photos and completeness of listings. I assume it must also include the price: if there’s an « in demand » badge on an item for €30 and we have the same one to offer, if it’s for €50, thus not matching recent purchases, it might not appear in the « in demand » listings?!
Marketing creation of a sense of urgency since, on the buyer’s side, by clicking on the listing, it’s indicated that many members are looking for the same item, as mentioned earlier in the forum discussions on this topic.
I wanted to test to see to what extent this was accurate: I favorited a board game listing (which is not indicated as « in demand ») on a friend’s wardrobe to boost its visibility. My algorithm then shows me other board games in my recommendations feed. I ended up with 30 Monopoly listings indicated as « in demand » (the favorite I had put was not a Monopoly at all). I randomly consulted one: the seller’s profile has no reviews, zero favorites on the listing, and only 7 views. So the recommendation would indeed come from statistics related to Monopoly and not from the seller’s interactions, demands, or views.
Similarly, I see many Lacoste items (sweaters and polos) after searching for these types of items to adjust the price of a listing I posted. Indeed, by looking at my statistics on Cleanz, out of all the sweaters, the Lacoste is the one with the most views (yet I haven’t had any messages or offers on it).
By solely browsing a category without any specific indication, for example, women > clothing > skirts, I get listings that stand out from my personalized algorithm, with badges indicated even on results that don’t appear at the top of the list (those with paid boosts, for example, which have more views/impressions than others).
Comparing two or three « in demand » items, there are common elements: brand, type of clothing, or even product description (e.g., « V-neck sweater » repeated in various « in demand » listings, even though they are of different brands, prices, colors, sizes, etc.) = high search and purchase volume for V-neck sweaters.
Therefore, this leads me to believe that it is truly linked to the most significant searches and purchases of the moment, thus an indicator of current trends. By browsing the Vinted guide and their own recommendations for selling quickly, this is confirmed, as they indicate that sought-after items are therefore more likely to be sold at a good price without needing to lower it or accept low offers.
Hoping this can add some elements of understanding, knowing that this is all new, it might change or be explained differently later.
Thank you Lucie for this very detailed explanation!
Personally, the badge is only displayed on items for which I have received an offer, whether accepted or not… As @maloup25 said ![]()
I don’t see it on my own closet, but I tested it with a friend, and she can see it.
On the other hand, and conversely, it doesn’t work on her closet, which she left inactive for a while…
Interesting!
Would there be 2 tests at the same time? Some for whom the badge appears after an offer and not for others?
Indeed, it could be a test phase!
Then again, I think Vinted’s interest is to have as many transactions as possible, not just to facilitate the customer journey. So if they implement it, it must somehow help sellers too… because more sales = more commission and traffic for them!
Maybe it’s also to help profiles without reviews, as there are quite a few of them (but also profiles with over 100 5-star reviews…).
Regarding my daily suggestions, which have changed since yesterday: many foreign items, about 8/10, the rest French.
UPDATE: I mentioned having a lot of Monopoly listings in my requests. My friend, for whom I had favorited another game, had a « Cheaters Edition » Monopoly among the others.
And BOOM, she just sold it! It had been online for a while without any messages or a lot of favorites! And indeed, among all the Monopoly games I had in my requests (she doesn’t have the feature on her end), I noticed that they were mainly special editions (Dragon Ball, James Bond, Cheaters…) and foreign ones (many German or Dutch, and a few French).
Colombo continues the investigation ![]()
I just got the « on demand » feature today, about 10 days after Lucile told us about it… So Vinted is probably rolling out the feature.
It still leaves me perplexed, will the « on demand » item have an impact on the algorithm, as I understand it? Highlighting the item, the wardrobe… what do you think?
If the « on request » badge allows us to be highlighted in articles… that would be great!
Don’t hesitate to tell us what you observe in the coming days! ![]()
