yes with « other economic delivery » in international shipments and then you indicate it in your description (« delivery abroad only by Mondial Relais to a pickup point » for example)
yes, but when you can fight back, that’s complicated. It would take me years to make my place and I don’t have the firepower to have as many choices as them, for example.
I believe that at a minimum, you need a small structure, clear processes, a well-thought-out and finalized tax status, external help, whether it’s apprentices, freelancers, or even employees.
Then, a marketing strategy, a budget, thoughtful communication, knowing who the target customers are and how to speak to them.
Cash flow that works, because for a website to be profitable, it often takes years; for that, you need to keep the marketplaces in parallel.
To manage both, in my opinion, you need two functions that coexist but are separate. Why? Because nothing is finalized to date to have a central base that combines both marketplaces and your own website, for example, for stock management (or, again, you need a very large structure, logistics costing tens of thousands of euros, it’s doable, and dedicated staff).
Basically, it’s moving from being a shopkeeper to a business owner. And the « Auto-Entrepreneur » status is no longer suitable; you need to be on the actual tax regime because investment is required. etc.
But it’s something to consider, depending on your sector of activity and your ambitions. For me, the main obstacle is the French economy, taxes, legal and administrative complexity, because I know there is potential and that it would work, but I’m not sure I want to give back 3/4 of my income, take risks, albeit measured, but still, spend most of my life on it. If entrepreneurship were freer, less restrictive, I would start, but as it is… not to mention all the taxes and measures they introduce each year (e.g., the reduction in the VAT exemption threshold, and so on). Despite everything, it remains a frustration; I’m small but I manage like a company ready to grow, without doing so.
Regarding sales: I notice that the few transactions seen on Vinted since last weekend are from buyers in Belgium (reminder: I sell books). Clearly, it is on these buyers that I still have some visibility, the algorithm perhaps promoting me thanks to the great flexibility I show on carriers. I look forward to it returning to France.
Another singularity: Rakuten is really at a standstill. Last sale on October 15th, 8 days ago. The previous one on October 8th. This had never happened, even though I have thousands of listings there. As if Google no longer indexed this site at all, and only aficionados were still using it.
Rakuten really messed up when they exploded their commission 2 years ago. I used to sell well and easily there (things sold quickly) and was often helped by days with discount coupons or big R-club cashback. And I used the latter quite a bit; by being diligent with it, I got a lot of money back in cashback and therefore never paid anything for my purchases on Rakuten.
Decline in Vinted sales compared to other platforms, this is my case currently. No particular change in strategy since the same period last year, other than aiming for double. I’m waiting to see if things pick up by early November. It’s also possible that more and more people are coming to the platform (many new accounts observed), more and more people are posting and reposting listings massively, which can drown out older listings. Without boosts or a featured « dressing, » it’s not even worth it. The week started well, and since yesterday, nothing. End of the month too… frequent declines at that time. Black Friday is coming soon, which could also harm the second-hand market.
Recently, I don’t know if you’ve seen it, but news channels have denounced the use of automated software on the platform sold by influencers with many followers, which can also put people off buying on Vinted. I need to find that. What do you think?
Yeah, but I guess most of them use their personal address and you have to contact them.
Oh no, I’m not going to stress about that. If they haven’t linked their MR account with eBay, I’ll be asked to choose a drop-off point, so I’ll contact them then. If MR assigns a drop-off point, I’ll deal with it. I’m not going to start chasing people to find out if they’ve configured their Mondial Relay account correctly. And I’ve never had any issues.
I am in a niche where quite a few of my ads do not generate tens of results and not specifically an explosion of supply in the year. And then certainly new arrivals are more sellers, but also customers.
On the other hand, yes, the reports create a fad encouraging people to start. The problem is that these reports always feature the seller who makes €10,000 per month but not the thousands who struggle to take off.
yes I agree with all of that.
I also think that this must be done with a view to developing, but not as a quick fix because things are going badly on the platforms. Which are still the easiest way to get started.
Political topics have no place here in my opinion, it’s disturbing and has nothing to do with Trump, don’t throw stones at others. Everyone has their responsibilities, have a good day.
I don’t look at the module’s charts, they depress me ![]()
From the stone thrown at Trump is big, but it’s true that politics does have a place because of instability… financial crisis… decrease in purchasing power and uncertainty… numerous factors mean that this has an impact on household budgets, so it has an impact on our sales ![]()
This is not just a political topic, it is also economic.
In the sales forecast, October is always a slow month. In September, there was the back-to-school rush, lots of expenses. In November, the Christmas season will begin, lots of expenses. Poor little October cumulus finds itself stuck between these two big cumulonimbus, September and November. And on top of that, it’s a long month: 5 weeks! Maybe one day, October will have its revenge, but for now, it has nothing going for it: 5 weeks, no holidays, crushed by these two big competitors, September and November… And to top it all off and bring our morale down: the time change. Everything is therefore in place to make it a slow month in terms of sales. I took advantage of it to stock up, do a little inventory, look for strategies… In anticipation of Christmas, because Christmas is THE season not to be missed. So, keep your spirits up, get your little light therapy session in, and tackle your Christmas wardrobe. In terms of SEO, now is the time to start indexing. Let’s go, to work!

As far as I’m concerned, it’s one of the best months of the year, but not this time.
Exactly, usually I have some who prepare for Christmas starting at the end of August and I have a build-up from August 20th to mid-December. Well, apparently someone forgot to open the pressure valve.
I know that theoretically October is a slow month, a sales month in reality. But in 2024 as in 2025, that’s not what I’m seeing (even if it collapsed since October 20th). It’s possible, for a bookseller, that there’s a « university back-to-school » effect, so in October rather than September.
Hi everyone, I sell silver jewelry and natural stones. Specializing in unique pieces, I have a personal account on Vinted but have been a professional for several years. Like everyone else, I noticed a drop in activity in October, but it wasn’t dramatic for me. However, what has changed is that some of my customers have changed the way they buy. They reserve on Vinted and go through my website to finalize their orders.
Small update:
For a few days now, no more sales and a drastic drop in visibility. Am I the only one in this situation?
Even with the new month and Halloween effect, I think it’s also due to Vinted once again…
