I’ve never had any of these problems (my last dispute dates back to 2014). I have much more trouble on Vinted and generally for trivial things.

For the fees, OK, it’s a bit more expensive than Vinted, but the tools are provided, the platform is stable (hello Vinted’s repeated bugs) and in the end, it’s by far the cheapest Marketplace (if eBay is hell, you really shouldn’t try Rakuten, Amazon, or Fnac).

Yeah, I confirm it was VERY hot  That’s also why I’m looking into creating my own website, in addition to Vinted. Because I have this strange feeling that I could be ripped off at any moment (account suspension or whatever). And since it’s been my only source of income for 3 months, I can no longer risk putting all my eggs in the Vinted basket

Sending abroad outside the EU, the fees are incredible considering they are applied to delivery. I am forced to increase delivery prices, it’s a hassle to sell now. The fees keep increasing. I’ve had 1 dispute since the beginning, it’s true that the customers are great, there are no problems, the platform works well. On the other hand, I’m stagnating, I can’t reach €1000 in turnover on the platform. My impressions are decreasing even though I have more than double the listings than at the beginning of the year, I can’t understand it… Is eBay doing well for you right now? Since September, I’ve had a big drop, -50% turnover in September and this month I’ve only made about €300…

The problem with eBay is that considering what we put in our pockets, it’s not enough if the €37,500 law for self-entrepreneurs passes. It’s no longer possible, too much work for little profit. That’s why I’m diversifying to Vinted.

Personally, I created my site and it was a big flop. I wanted to transfer my eBay clients to the site, but they don’t really trust it… Also, I sell vintage items that I find at flea markets, so my clientele is older, which can be understood. I advise you to create a social media account to get known before launching your site, which I didn’t do, and now I’m paying fees for nothing.

I already have an Instagram account with a good community, it’s true that it can help  Without it, I wouldn’t even have considered the idea ^^

What did you use to create your website? I admit that the monthly fees with a one-year commitment put me off a bit… I saw that Sumup offered something like that for free. I don’t know what it’s worth… It looks super basic and without a domain name, so not great

Oh yes, but that’s not eBay, that’s the carriers. Besides, it has also increased on Vinted for certain countries.
The only thing is that they have a partnership with Mondial Relay in terms of prices, and there are things that bug like shipping to Italy or the Spain price which does not correspond to the one displayed.

Well, for me it’s stable. I could even say that I’m progressing in a way since I was forced to remove Italy and Spain because of the bug with MR and that was a big part of my business. Too bad because without it I would have made good progress in September and October. Besides, it remains a supplementary turnover, but at the moment I can’t complain about €800/900 per month. With the Italians, I would be around €1500.

I really need to contact them because I can’t manage to register a fee table that works and know why I can’t get the displayed prices.

Yes, but I’m talking about the fees that eBay takes, since they take them on the turnover, so the selling price + the shipping price that we sometimes have to pay again. Selling abroad, we are not winners. I had to stop selling to the United States 6 months ago because of that, since they take additional fees on the tax that the buyer pays, which they then deduct from us.

I sell a lot to Germans and Italians, Spain is weak, I’ve never had this problem.

Ok, yes, that’s a drawback. On a 2.99 MR shipment, that’s an additional 35 cents in commission, which can easily be made up on the price.

Do you have the connection between MR and eBay with Italy?

For me, it only shows home delivery and I am forced to go through the site without eBay, but it is much more expensive. And I have another colleague seller who has exactly the same thing.
Germany is the same, no connection for me.

Spain shows me €6 when €3.85 excluding tax is displayed on the site.

Let’s be honest, creating your own website isn’t for everyone!

Already, when you see some people who aren’t beginners failing at online sales through their own sites, I can only imagine for the average person. So, to have a functioning website, I think you need a large community that trusts you on social media (mainly Instagram for Europeans) because let’s not forget that for many years we’ve heard about scams… Dropshipping… and more. People now find it safer to go directly through well-known marketplaces (LBC / Vinted / Ebay / Amazon…).

Which I completely understand!

I also thought about creating my own website, it’s my goal, but I know that before anything else, I need to focus on Vinted… start looking at eBay and perhaps research Amazon (Amazon FBA). Build social media presence like this so that in my sales, I can include flyers with my social media links because before anything else, you need to develop your social media presence. Without it, frankly, good luck generating traffic without spending a fortune on campaigns (ADS). I’m talking to you realistically, not like those pseudo 20-year-old millionaires who promise everyone dreams; the reality is quite different!

I went through Shopify, I also took the monthly subscription, frankly very easy to use, very practical, subscription at €1 sometimes for the first 3 months then €33 per month

Yes, for shipping within France, it doesn’t make much difference, but personally, I sell items that can be heavy, so it hurts a lot. And when you sell abroad, and the buyer pays 50 bucks for shipping and 50 bucks for the item, that stings. I’ve already had to cancel sales because between taxes + shipping, I lose money, it’s frustrating.

Ah, then I don’t know, I only send to home abroad, how do you send to a pickup point, eBay doesn’t offer it, it seems to me

Yes, in any case, Shopify is clearly the best for creating your site, but once again, the most complicated thing is to generate traffic.

I’m not saying the opposite, indeed

Yes, on eligible destinations:

Ah yes, but in that case, it would indeed be better to be on the actual tax regime.

that’s why I abandoned the idea. Anyway, I have « competitors » already in place for many years and I can’t compete, so I’m not sure the requested energy will be very profitable.

Yes, I agree, but in your sales conditions, when you set your delivery prices, you can choose a relay point for France, but not for abroad. It seems to me

Exactly!!!
It’s good to have competitors because if there are competitors, it means there is a real market.
