Hello, I wanted to get opinions and feedback from experienced sellers to know the value of worn photos in an advertisement.

What I observe: I see very few worn photos as the first photo, a question that may seem stupid but for what reason? Indeed, it is systematically clothes laid on the ground.

For which item should I choose a worn photo exactly? To sell a good item or to make an advertisement that doesn’t get stats more attractive.

Should the worn photo be the first or second photo?

Last point: I see more and more press articles discussing AI, some even create worn photos with it. From my personal point of view, I think the platform will eventually implement controls. It’s a question, personally, I prefer to remain « authentic ».

On my end, I sometimes take photos of myself wearing items, but quite rarely. And when I do… they’re the first photo :sweat_smile:
The choice to take a photo of myself wearing an item depends on:

  • The item and how it looks. (It’s quite easy to imagine yourself in a t-shirt… unlike a jumpsuit, which doesn’t look good either on a mannequin or on a hanger.)
  • The number of times I’ve already reposted it.
  • And… its selling price.

Hello @Lucile I came across the topic you gave me, with Gemini Pro, I am able to create nice photos with AI but I feel like it’s a false good idea, because I don’t know if it’s just me who sees it instantly that it’s AI, it doesn’t inspire confidence, let me explain.

I have a Samsung, I can clearly remove imperfections, buyers won’t see anything wrong, but I prefer to keep the authenticity and the raw condition of the clothes. Who tells me that other sellers are honest about this.

For example, I ordered a TNF fleece, I know one of the photos is clearly AI, I’m waiting to see the condition of the product upon receipt.

Regarding the photos of items being worn, I’m wondering because I have quality pieces with a particular style, I have a cardigan with a collar style like a suit that I’ve rarely seen, in cashmere that I want to sell at a higher price. I wanted to justify this price by showing it in a photo worn with a nice outfit (I have outfit ideas) but I’m not going to bother doing it for all the pieces, just the nice ones. But I still have trouble estimating which piece to highlight with photos of items being worn.

Your feedback is interesting. I do think we quickly spot when it’s AI once we start using it… but I remain convinced that there are still honest sellers (:backhand_index_pointing_up:t2::joy:) and that AI, used wisely, helps.

As for modeled photos, it’s a broad debate. I think there’s the PRO team, who only offer that on their closet, and the CON team because it takes time, among other things… it’s up to you to see what you want to do in the long term. Don’t hesitate to test it from time to time.

I have just read the topic and regarding the photos, I am for and against, and I also have my opinion on AI.

Photos worn or not (clothing)

Firstly, it depends on the item, but for clothing, for example, I understand, and then, for example, you have a wardrobe, or you don’t want to take days to wear each item, for several reasons, maybe you have far too many that it would take you days, weeks. Or simply because they are no longer your size, which can happen.

And then, it depends on the person who owns the account (a man or a woman) yes, sorry for the cliché, but also to avoid having tons of messages and requests that go off Vinted (not going elsewhere), but like, I quote « your photos are beautiful, can I have a worn photo without… » all the excesses of this kind that we have also seen on TF1. Excesses on private platforms (I don’t need to spell it out for you).

General photos taken from the internet

I have seen items, such as « tents, cat beds » (yes, they are not called exactly that, but I can’t remember the exact name of these items) but it feels like « scams, » they steal photos, make fake ads to never deliver anything…).

Descriptions

For descriptions, generally, we just put (size, color, condition, and a few hashtags), but then I don’t know if it’s a bit of « professional deformation, » but I try to write nice texts like (the AIDA method for traditional e-commerce).

I see that this AI makes a lot of spelling mistakes. I hate spelling mistakes and I don’t buy from someone who writes Bon(ne) état for example. Yes I know it’s silly huh!!
