Hi,
I’m coming here because I honestly don’t know what else to do.
I’ve only recently started selling on Vinted, I wanted to do it alongside my studies, and I only get positive reviews. Last week I sold a jacket to a guy. I had the supplier’s invoice, I had filmed the jacket before sending it, and I had taken photos of the serial number clearly visible, the brand’s embroidery, the packaging, and the sealing of the parcel. Basically, everything you need.
The guy received the parcel. At first, everything seemed normal. He asked me if it was authentic, I answered him honestly, I even offered to refund him fully if he had any doubts, just asking him to send the item back.
And then he opened a dispute, claiming it was a counterfeit. Except that:
-
He refuses to send the item back. He says, « I don’t think I’m allowed to return a counterfeit product »
-
The photos he provided show a serial number that doesn’t match mine at all
-
The brand’s embroidery that is clearly visible in my video doesn’t appear in his photos
-
He has no proof, only his word
This is exactly the technique circulating on TikTok to keep the item AND get a refund.
I contacted Vinted 5 times, asking them how to send them my video, my invoice, the PDF of my complaint (I filed a complaint for fraud, art. 313-1, I have the reference). Each time, they either don’t reply, or it’s an automatic copy-paste. The last agent (Mohamed) even sent me the exact same message twice.
Result:
-
They refunded the buyer
-
The guy keeps the jacket AND the money
-
They have permanently blocked my account
-
I have €1413 in my wallet that I can’t withdraw (I tried, it shows « Transfer failed » and 0 in my wallet)
-
And €449 pending on ongoing sales
Honestly, I’m disgusted. I did everything by the book, I have proof, I filed a complaint. Nobody is listening to me.
My questions:
-
Has anyone ever recovered money held by Vinted? How?
-
Does a formal notice by registered mail work?
-
What’s the FEVAD mediator like in reality?
-
Are there any email addresses at Vinted that actually respond?
-
Has anyone ever filed a complaint with the CNIL against them?
-
If you know of a journalist who covers these kinds of organized scams, I’m interested
I’ve already planned: email to the DPO, email to the CEO (thomas@vinted.com), SignalConso, formal notice, mediator, CNIL, and court as a last resort.
If you’ve experienced this (won OR lost), please share. It will help me know where I’m going.
Thanks in advance.
