Closure for multiple accounts by Vinted

Attention, Vinted is cracking down on multiple accounts. They threaten to close accounts, even if it’s not true.
I just had the problem and have been fighting with them for a week. They claim I have 2 accounts, and the so-called 2nd account belongs to my daughter-in-law, which I supposedly opened once or twice on my computer to explain how Vinted works. This account is in her name, with her email and her bank account.
If you have ever used the account of someone you know, even just once, I recommend deleting your cookies immediately to avoid leaving traces.

Is it the device or the connection that is being targeted?!

I’m not an expert, but I’ve seen videos about this. When you have a blocked account, you have to change everything from A to Z:

email
phone number
mailing address
connection/IP address (use a VPN)…
IBAN

Otherwise, a very long solution is to contact the CNIL (French Data Protection Authority) to force Vinted to delete all your information.

It’s a pain, especially when it’s not true!

For my part, I only have one account and it already takes a lot of time…

But me too! They made me close my daughter-in-law’s account, who has nothing to do with me.

It seems you’re not the only one @canelle1306: we’ve seen similar testimonies on other Facebook groups.

Important to know: they detect duplicate accounts via computer cookies and for the mobile app, via the phone’s memory.

So it’s important to regularly clear your cookies and especially do so between each connection with another Vinted account. And for the mobile app, you definitely shouldn’t use it to connect multiple Vinted accounts unless you completely reset (full reset with complete memory wipe) your phone between each connection

Luckily, Snap, Insta, or TikTok don’t do that!! With our teens connecting to everything on their phones or their friends’ accounts :grin::grin:
More seriously, I find it outrageous in terms of respect for privacy…

I am only responding to the post, not to you Clément.

Simply, I want to add my two cents with my tutorial that can help you (if you don’t know how to clear the cache):

(6) [TUTO] - How to clear your browser or app cache - YouTube

In this video I show you how to do it on Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox, but also how to clear the cache of the Vinted app (on android) (but this works for any app).

Hello @canelle1306 did you manage to keep your dressing room in the end?

Yes, I kept my dressing room, but they closed my daughter-in-law’s!

Good evening, is the information still current? Is this still a functional method to have a secondary account on the same device? If so, what account information needs to be changed? If I put a similar IBAN on both accounts, will that cause problems, right? Thanks in advance!

For now, I manage two accounts from two computers (to use Clemz on each). So, the same IP, but everything else is different. No alerts have been noticed yet.

It would be « logical » for Vinted not to create an alert for only two accounts, since the case where two people in a shared household have one each should now be the norm in the country.

Hello,
Yes, these tips are still relevant! Everything must be different: name/surname/ credit card: email/ phone number etc…
We also advise you to use a different IBAN.

They were particularly annoying about it and didn’t want to hear anything as far as I was concerned. In the end, they bother me less by having two accounts in my name, but one professional and one personal.

Yes, 1 professional and 1 private individual is OK, it is indicated in the General Terms and Conditions :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello,

There is conflicting information circulating regarding the risk or lack thereof of having the same IP address.
Specifically, is it better to use a VPN?

Have a good day
