I’ve noticed something several times lately, and I wanted to know if I’m the only one…
When I make an offer to a buyer (a recent favorite, for example), I feel like it unlocks visibility: One or more new favorites on the item shortly after, sometimes unexpected interactions.
So I’m wondering: Does the mere act of making an offer, even without a response, temporarily boost the item in the algorithm?
Or is it just a coincidence of timing?
I’m interested in your feedback, especially if you’ve observed similar things!
Hello
I’ve noticed this for my sales. Just the fact that someone makes me an offer boosts my item. And I often sell it shortly after to someone else who buys it at or close to the asking price.
When I make an offer, I either buy quickly or move on, so I don’t know what happens to the items, but it’s necessarily the same. I know that by making an offer (or a favorite, a view) I boost that item.
I must say that I do not see anything like that. I regularly receive overly aggressive offers, at -40%, which I refuse, and I have never observed that this caused a third party to buy the item. On the other hand, I occasionally have two offers on the same book. Generally, it’s because there has been some recent news about it.
I cannot respond to you. I do not make offers to favorites. Manually it is unmanageable and I do not have the automatic function. I prefer to lower the price or republish.
