My Vinted account was permanently suspended after listing a Pimkie skirt considered counterfeit, even though it was initially purchased on Vinted. It is, moreover, sold by many other members.
I appealed with proof (initial purchase, tags, barcode, etc.) and am awaiting a response.
Has anyone else had a similar ban for a commonplace item / one purchased on the platform? Were you able to get your account back, and how long did it take?
Thank you for your answer. Indeed, the problem is similar to mine and the member « CathT » has recovered their account. This gives me hope of recovering mine. However, I will not spam them, I will make a few follow-ups, leaving a few days between each follow-up before contacting external organizations to Vinted.
I will try to remain hopeful, I also spoke with the seller from whom I bought the skirt, and according to her, she had bought it from Zalando and is surprised by Vinted’s sanction. I highly doubt it’s a counterfeit, but these different answers could help me either with Vinted or with external organizations if Vinted doesn’t care. So, we’ll see what happens next.
My account is still banned, although I don’t know if I’ll go all the way with the procedure. However, I found another app very similar to Vinted and it allowed me to sell my items for double the price I was selling them for on Vinted. Maybe you know it, it’s the app « beebs ». Apparently it belongs to Kiabi? But the price negotiation is much less aggressive than on Vinted, with also more respect for sellers, I find, and my skirt was also accepted, just like on other listing sites, so that’s a good point.
Great news, after my final calm follow-up before contacting the CNIL if Vinted didn’t respond, Vinted replied 1 hour later to tell me it was an error on their part, that they had unbanned my account, and apologized at the same time!!!
I never communicated by email, only through the application’s chat where I disputed the ban. However, I never received any emails from them, neither to inform me of the ban nor during our exchanges. I received only one email after my last follow-up via the application’s chat, telling me that I had received a message from them.
Yes, indeed, I think the bot thought I was selling an exotic leather item, which is not the case at all. I know that the term « faux leather » also doesn’t always go through.
I have already seen this kind of false positive too. Their automatic detection is sometimes completely off, especially with certain keywords like “exotic skin”, “croco”, “python”, “faux leather”, etc. The bot must scan certain terms/photos and it goes straight to moderation…
And the same for emails, many people say they receive almost nothing by email and that everything happens only in the app’s support chat. You really have to keep an eye on the message center directly on Vinted.
At least if your account was unblocked after a chat exchange, that’s already a good sign. But yes, the automatic moderation system is sometimes ultra aggressive and clearly lacks human verification.
Yes, by the way, I’m creating a map of « sensitive » words on Vinted
Not to bypass the rules, but mostly to avoid ambiguous phrasing and reduce unnecessary risks. At this point, it’s probably the best navigation possible in these iceberg-infested waters
