Personal account restricted for 5 days due to too many new items with tags posted

Hello,

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

And can possibly advise me on the problem encountered.

Let me explain:

I’m clearing out the closets at home and it turns out that, with grown daughters at home, we have quite a few unused items (clothes and jewelry) with their purchase tags.

Since returns and refunds are impossible, for some time now I have been posting very regularly new items with tags.

To do this, I use my personal account (opened in 2018 without any problems), since these are our own items paid for with our own money.

I take my own photos, I write my own descriptions, and I sell the items for less than the price on the tags, …

This morning, I received a message from Vinted stating that they are restricting my account for 5 days on the grounds that selling items in large quantities can be considered a commercial activity and that I might be a professional seller.

They have hidden 9 listings, including an item already sold and shipped (I admit I don’t understand this), and are restricting my account for 5 days.

With threats of a 7-day restriction and permanent account blocking because it seems to them that my sales have a commercial purpose (whereas I’m just trying to get some money back), and they suggest I switch my account to a pro account.

Thank you for your advice, it will be welcome.

Have a nice day everyone

Hello Rita,

Indeed, this has happened to quite a few sellers on Vinted.
Your wardrobe must not contain more than 10% of New items.

The bots must have detected that you were selling too many New items, which can be considered disguised commercial activity.

Even if you are emptying the closets of your entire family to liquidate and make space (especially if they haven’t been worn for months or even years).
A robot is dumb in itself, and won’t tell the difference  (Vinted only uses bots)

I suggest you slow down your listings after the 5-day block, so you don’t get a permanent ban.

If you only have New items to sell, perhaps wait until you’ve sold items from your wardrobe before listing others that are new.

Prioritize second-hand clothing.

For hidden and deleted listings, don’t use the same photos.
Take new ones so the bots don’t detect a relisting of unaccepted items.

This will prevent you from being permanently banned…

Good luck to you…

P.S.: If you have a lot of New clothes and want to get rid of them quickly, know that there are professional sellers who buy lots…

Hello,

Thank you for your message and your wise advice. I thought their slogan was « If you don’t wear it, sell it », so I’ll still take the trouble to reply to Vinted. Have a nice end of the day.
