I came across an ad for about 10 books. Reading the description, the seller specifies that the price in the ad is for a single book and that you need to tell her which book you want to buy.
Question: Is this allowed? Or if I click to buy, is she obligated to send me all the items in the photos?
Hello - Yes, I see it more and more. It’s dishonest in my opinion, but it allows these sellers to position themselves well. Personally, this kind of behavior rather drives me away, just like those who indicate « new » after wearing something once or twice (besides, it’s curious how all these clothes are only worn once or twice).
At the beginning, when I was still naive, I happened to buy new pants without a tag, and when I pointed out upon receipt that « very good condition » was more appropriate, within the hour I had received an avalanche of reports (I had asked Vinted).
Everyone is not nice, not kind on Vinted, a simple reflection of society!!!
Well, the question doesn’t even arise for me, I’ve never been gullible, not just on Vinted either. I sell almost exclusively because out of the little I’ve ordered, I’ve had some crazy things…
I’m really wondering what would happen if I bought it as is, would Vinted side with me or not in case of a complaint. Because it’s not like Leboncoin, which allows you to make a global listing but purchase individually.
But hey, I don’t want her to give me a bad review or anything for a few pounds even though it’s super tempting
I don’t think the person intends to be dishonest. I think it’s out of simplicity. In one photo and in a single listing, she shows everything she wants to sell.
I don’t advise you to buy the listing. The seller will cancel anyway. Apart from wasting her time, it will achieve nothing.
If any of these books interest you, send her a message.
No, I don’t think so. As far as I’m concerned, I indicate the price of the lot (not complicated) and then I indicate that they can be bought individually.
Nothing to be surprised about. It’s classic on Leboncoin, people who post a single ad with a list of about a hundred books (or CDs, or DVDs, etc.), each with its own price. You contact the seller, who creates a dedicated ad for the transaction.
The advantage: you only have one ad to create and maintain, to bring back to the top, etc.
Disadvantage: no impulse buying, no buyer getting carried away by their clicks and buying an item from you, because you always have to go through messaging, etc.
I don’t do it on Vinted, but I’m tempted. On Leboncoin, I’ve listed series of books (for example, complete collections of 50+ volumes of comics), and frankly, they sell.
I’ve always seen this kind of ad and I don’t think we should see evil everywhere, it’s mostly to avoid having to make dozens of ads. Personally, I don’t like it much but I don’t necessarily see anything reprehensible in it.
I am not accusing her of being dishonest at all, perhaps I expressed myself poorly..
The price shown corresponds to what she is asking for a single item, but the photos show a lot.
I perfectly understood the principle of only making one listing, I do it too whether I sell everything or individually, but the price shown corresponds to the lot, which seems logical (if I make a global listing for 10 items at €5 each, I put an amount of €50 not €5) precisely because on Vinted, the price corresponds to what is in the listing.
So I still don’t really know if I’m entitled to receive all the items in the photo if I buy directly (even if it’s a bit of a scam )
Hello - if you make the purchase directly, the seller will ask you which book you have chosen, and when she realizes that you are thinking of receiving the lot, she will have to cancel the sale, which will earn her a bad rating (unless she declares that the cancellation is in agreement with the buyer).
I was forgetting another problem with the announcement for a lot but separate payment: inextricable difficulties if a buyer adds the product to a lot… You then have to refuse the sale, and there’s every chance the buyer won’t bother to redo the process of selecting everything they’re interested in, etc.
