Permanent ban message but account still restricted until a date — experienced this before?

Hello,

I would like to get some feedback on a specific case.

I was restricted for 7 days on Vinted due to suspected counterfeit items.

During this restriction, I sent a claim explaining that the block was impacting my professional activity and that the item had been purchased on an official platform, believing it to be authentic.

This morning, I received a message stating that, following review, my account would be permanently blocked.

However, in the app, my account is still simply restricted, with the restriction ending on January 17th.

For clarification: the item is considered counterfeit by LegitApp, but I also have a certificate of authenticity issued by an independent boutique in Lyon.

For those who have already experienced this type of situation:

Have you ever seen a discrepancy between a message announcing a permanent block and a temporary status in the app?

Has the restriction sometimes been lifted automatically on the indicated date despite this type of message?

I am mainly looking to know if it is better to wait for the indicated date or if a new claim is useful, without worsening the situation.

Thank you for your concrete feedback.

Hello,

I had the same case as you, restricted account for 5 days and immediately after I received a message that the account was permanently blocked.

After the 5 days, I recovered my account without a permanent block.

I tell myself that since everything is managed by a robot, it could not block the account since there was a restriction.

I hope it will be the same for you.

Hello, I didn’t know about legitapp. I just looked at it, and it’s another AI that has no knowledge of fashion history, archives, or manufacturing methods, etc. Therefore, many items may not pass. A bit like at Vinted or Vestiaire Collective, which hire « experts » (lol) who have no experience. What is the offending item? Depending on its value, go to an auctioneer and ask for an appraisal. And email Vinted’s legal department with your shop’s certificate. My own experience has led me to list fewer and fewer luxury items on Vinted. Yet, in general, these are vintage items, so there is a very low risk of counterfeiting, and it’s a bit of my profession, including in court. As for the risks during shipping, they are major. I no longer ship abroad and only use Colissimo.

Hello, thank you for your reply.

I was not familiar with LegitApp either, originally.

I discovered this type of application following a dispute over the purchase of a Moncler puffer jacket on an American platform, which turned out to be a replica.

In this specific case, the platform informed me that a refund was only possible on the condition of presenting an official replica certificate, relying on authentication tools such as LegitApp or Entrupy.

The item concerned here is a Dior t-shirt.

As this was not validated on Vestiaire Collective at the beginning of 2025, I took the initiative to go further in my checks.

I therefore entrusted the t-shirt for several days to a specialized boutique in Lyon, Dimension Store, a recognized brand with several stores in France, which issued me with a certificate of authenticity after physical expertise of the item.

What is difficult for me to understand today is that, despite this in-depth human expertise carried out in the store, some platforms seem to place more value on an automated authentication tool like LegitApp than on physical expertise, for which the item was examined on-site for several days.

Indeed, a t-shirt doesn’t warrant seeing an expert. If you think it’s authentic, list it on eBay. eBay buyers are knowledgeable and collectors. Personally, I don’t go for luxury brand t-shirts as they are often too trendy. Even I make mistakes. The copies are excellent. Unless it’s vintage. But the t-shirt is a recent item of « mass luxury. » There are few vintage ones. I think AI takes no risks. I also think a single store certificate is not reliable.

Initially, this t-shirt was not intended to be sold on Vinted, but on Vestiaire Collective, which is precisely the platform for luxury items.

The t-shirt is new with tags and cost me a certain amount.

Before listing it for sale, I communicated with the seller from whom I purchased it (a physical store in France), and then I had it authenticated at a specialized store in Lyon.

Therefore, I believed I was acting in a serious and good-faith manner.

Today, faced with the platforms’ refusals, I prefer to stop here rather than take any further risks.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your feedback, it really reassures me to read about your experience.

Indeed, the situation seems very similar to mine, so your message gives me hope again.

I will wait for the end of the restriction period and see how things evolve.

Thank you again for sharing and for your kindness.
