Hello.
A buyer just let me know that there is a stain on an item she purchased.
I don’t see any stain on the item as I shipped it…
The problem is that before contacting me, the buyer washed the jacket in the machine with detergent. Unfortunately, the jacket is dry-clean only.
Have you ever experienced this? How does Vinted, which always favors buyers, rule on this?
Thank you.
Hello and welcome ![]()
Here is my opinion; Normally, once the package is received, the product is checked, everything matches, and there are no apparent issues: WE VALIDATE. So if she wanted after-sales service, she should have gone to the store and paid the full price, after washing it… and even in the store, I might add, if the washing conditions are not met, it’s rare to get a return/refund.
So, if the stain is not in your photos, you should normally win. If, moreover, she states that she washed it without following the washing instructions: Her problem.
I would still let Vinted decide, clearly mentioning the buyer’s mistakes and that the stain was not there at the time of purchase.
There you go, but this is just my opinion.
Good evening ![]()
Totally agree! But how to prove the item wasn’t present? I have all the photos to prove it, but it’s my word against hers. It’s true that a Totême jacket currently sold for €500, bought for €200, is already a good deal. She hasn’t opened a dispute, but she’s claiming €25…
Meh, the « we’ll sort it out with some compensation » thing is almost 100% a scam. If an item is damaged, we want a refund, not a discount.
In this case, you can already reply that Vinted doesn’t offer a solution for partial refunds, but she can request a return. There’s a 99% chance she’ll drop it, especially if you choose for it to be at your expense. And if she does return it, don’t say anything, and upon receipt, refuse the return because it’s not in the same condition as when it was sent.
A buyer tore my sweatshirt while opening the package with a sharp object. I sent photos to Vinted showing that my item was not torn, but Vinted ruled in favor of the buyer. I filed another dispute upon receiving my sweatshirt, and they refunded the buyer…
My photos clearly showed a pristine sweatshirt before shipping, and it was evident that the packaging had been opened with scissors, but Vinted didn’t even bother to read or look at the photos…
For your information, Vinted does offer partial refunds in case of disputes.
In your case, the buyer should not have washed the item. Take a screenshot of their message and send it to Vinted. If they deign to read your message, who knows…
Good evening.
Thank you very much!
It’s what I thought.
I have screenshots and all the information…
Still waiting for no dispute to be opened, fingers crossed.
But indeed, Vinted always protects buyers. It’s shameful!
But, yet, if the buyer doesn’t open a dispute and has received the product, after 2 days with no news, the sale will automatically confirm and you will be paid automatically normally, right? ![]()
So, in my opinion, you just have to wait for the 2 days to end and then the buyer won’t be able to ask you for anything, nor open a dispute afterwards. Too bad for her, and good for you.
If she wrote in the messages that she washed the jacket, the dispute (if any) will be closed in your favor. It is clearly stated in the terms and conditions that the dispute is void if the garment was washed before it was opened.
Hello.
Indeed, she washed the jacket in the machine when it is dry clean only.
Thank you for the information.
Have a nice day.
