buyers have no limits, you put an item up for sale at an already low price and they make you even lower offers, and on top of that, if you accept, they ask you to change the shipping costs to the minimum.
fed up… no respect
these buyers think all sellers are waiting for them???
when they go to a store, do they haggle too? in any case, when I do my shopping, I’ve already tried, it doesn’t work
hello, I’m not a pro and when I set the price too high, nobody sees it, so there’s no negotiation at all, and if I set a normal price, the negotiation is sometimes 80% less. I think to myself, « Is this possible? Are they high or what? » After that, I’m tall, and if I don’t want to sell at the asking price, I’ll let it go, but I find it tiring. I think it’s normal, but not « outrageous, » and besides, after the offer is accepted, they come and ask you to change the shipping costs by modifying the weight range of the item.
Here, a pair of Adidas for €7, offer of €5, which I accepted, and they asked for a reduction in shipping. I said no, they still ordered, but I’m sure I’ll get a terrible rating…
Simple remark: I list all my items with minimum shipping costs, regardless of the weight or volume of the item – knowing that I don’t have anything weighing 20kg anyway. There’s no check, and I’ve never had a problem. At least no one asks me to change the weight category
hello - On Vinted, the price is never low enough. You absolutely have to negotiate, even if it’s only a few euros. It’s annoying because the game is to inflate the price to be able to accept a lower one. Ridiculous.
Regarding shipping costs, I don’t agree with setting everything to the lowest rate. Shipping companies and their delivery drivers also need to earn a living. The shipping company rates are perfectly reasonable, especially at the moment with the price of gas.
Interesting information. Do the minimum shipping fees still apply? Can anyone else confirm? And is this valid for all carriers?
For example, could I ship coats with a minimum carrier rate?
The issue isn’t control, it’s what you’ll get as reimbursement from the carrier if a package is lost, since it’s based on weight? And besides, by doing this, controls will eventually fall apart, or even worse, prices will go up. Fixed shipping but much more expensive, that way the carrier will stop being the fall guy!
I had a case recently. Vinted refunded at the item’s value, without any mention of parcel size. We’re talking about €10.
There are many items, like accessories, jewelry, watches, etc., that are low weight and low volume but high value. Do sellers really classify them as « bulky » items?
I’ve shipped very large parcels with minimum shipping costs, just like I received them. Imagine 30 books, and not paperbacks. No problem.
There is a limit, however. Someone tried to ship a huge 50 kg box (= 100 books), and even though they took care to choose the highest rate offered by Mondial Relay, which was 25kg, the parcel was blocked at the sorting center.
More generally, carriers see many cases of overpaying for postage. I also ship very small items, and carriers’ shipping costs are more expensive than standard postal mail. Carriers know their risks, and their pricing is designed to absorb them.
Re: The only times I offer an adjustment is when I sell, for example, a mug and Vinted charges me a fee for 5 kg. By trying to cheat everyone, it will end up backfiring on us, the platform users.
If Vinted or MR, Chronopost etc. were losing money, the option would have been automatic for a long time and not a suggestion/choice of the seller.
Margins on transport are low but they compensate with volume, and it’s not for nothing that MR places lockers everywhere because it allows them to margin even more and ensure the volume of Vinted, LBC etc.
Re: Colissimo prices for 1 kg = 9.59 euros, for 2 kg = 11.19 euros, and they increase every January 1st. We are far from the prices charged by the carriers offered by Vinted or LBC, who, given the current situation, will undoubtedly have to adjust their prices.
I’ve already had the case where people asked me to change my shipping costs to the minimum when they already were, because sometimes Vinted chooses a more expensive carrier and people don’t know how to change it!
Yes and no… with Mondial Relay it works, but with Vinted Go you need to make sure the package fits in the locker, so you have to be careful.
Bpost Belgium is very strict with individuals, but so far with Vinted, I’ve never had any issues.
Let’s say 1 jacket, no problem. 2 is already more of a headache. And sometimes Vinted inflates the shipping costs for bundles, e.g., 5 DVDs bought from 5 listings, high shipping costs.
