Dishonest buyers

@charlotte1105, you need to respond to the dispute on Vinted by providing your arguments (photos, screenshots of the description) and Vinted will decide afterwards.
However, if they rule in favor of the buyer, they must still pay the return costs.

But I don’t even have the option to respond!! I had to contact Vinted customer service by email to explain what’s happening.
It’s really strange, when I go to the dispute details, I only have the option to « refund the buyer, Â» no other option!
There is no mention of a return under any circumstances.
In fact, the person opened a dispute without even talking to me first. She claims the package is intact but that the lamp is slightly bent (it just needs to be straightened by hand), and that’s when I understood
She implies that the lamp was placed bent in the package
opened a dispute and asks to be refunded for non-conformity of the item!! without having to return it.
And Vinted will consider that there was no transaction, just like with you, and I won’t even be able to rate this scammer who will keep her 5 stars!!
I admit that Vinted disappoints me because they thus protect all sorts of scams, and when they claim that reviews help warn other members, it’s false since we can’t report them.
This doesn’t hold up, and it’s a lie on Vinted’s part to say that the transaction didn’t take place
It did take place since someone received and kept an item!!

Yes, that’s what I did. But unfortunately, it’s happened to me twice now.
The other time, I sent two old metal ladles, like aluminum, and I placed them head to tail in the packaging (bubble wrap, newspapers, and cardboard).
And then, hold on to your hats: MAGIC ABRACADABRA, the two ladles arrived sawed in half in the same place! And of course, it was the fault of poorly made packaging
yeah, right. Yuri Geller must have been inside the package.
Vinted didn’t want to know anything about it, the scammer kept the sawed-in-half ladles and got a refund, and I couldn’t even rate her!
If that’s not encouraging theft, what is it?

Indeed, it’s strange not to have the option to request the return of the item against reimbursement.
Perhaps the process is different because it is a decorative item (lamp, ladles)!
I don’t see any other explanation!

no no nothing like that in the regulations
it’s more than strange and encourages dishonesty

I agree with Clovis, it’s surprising not to have the option to claim the return and that Vinted doesn’t give « a voice Â» to both parties and only listens to the buyer.. really sorry for you!

Can you provide a screenshot of your conversation thread and the dispute so I can best assist you

I’m sorry I can’t put everything in, but I was able to put in the one where I clicked on dispute details and there was only the option to refund the buyer, who, by the way, also keeps the two euro check I put in the package because I gave her a post-purchase discount.

As long as the dispute is being investigated by Vinted, it is not possible to request a return, it seems to me, but this should be confirmed by others in the same situation?

It seems to me that you can ask for it, but by getting a full refund by closing the dispute.

This is an open door to scams!! Slightly damage an item and make it seem like the seller deceived you, and Vinted allows the buyer to keep the item and get a refund!!
Furthermore, and bizarrely, the Vintie in question decided to keep the lamp after all, supposedly because the drop-off point is too far from her home to return it

Finally
it’s a good thing for you then

No, you can systematically request a return (it seems to me that it is even a legal obligation). Which often discourages, so it should be done systematically as soon as there is any doubt. After that, you can do what you want, there will always be loopholes on the platforms. It’s complicated to find a balance because there are indeed these kinds of buyers, but there are also sellers with dubious practices.

And personally, as a professional, I have found the argument that ends debates when someone asks me to make an arrangement rather than a return. I tell them that as a company, I have to send back defective items or use my insurance to get reimbursed for losses. Strangely, suddenly the items become valid and do not need to be returned.

It’s Vinted magic :sparkles::joy:

Let’s say that for people who have known eBay since the 2000s, this kind of scam is hard to go unnoticed.

hello, it’s my nightmare. I rarely post « expensive Â» items, but when I do, I’m paranoid. I document everything, take 10 photos, take photos of the shipping and packaging, etc.
Recently, I sent an Armani leather jacket
 to Italy
I told myself: I’m all set to get ripped off, and
it turned out to be a Christmas gift: the woman is an influencer, she made a video with it, and it brought me quite a bit of traffic  (a technique to consider for certain niches)

Sorry to add my request, but this also looks like a dishonest buyer

I’ll tell you what happened to me today

First of all, good evening to all of you,
My best wishes to all of you.
I wish you the best for you and your loved ones, especially health!!

Well, a big misadventure for me on Vinted despite 4 years of experience, it had to happen one day!

I sold about twenty items for about a hundred euros to a buyer via Chronopost for 20 items.

I kindly accepted another discount despite already having a 25% reduction on the total

The package was very well packaged initially, I took photos of the outside and one of the inside but not of all the items because it’s difficult, they are folded in a large tote bag.

The buyer collected the package today before 2 p.m. and only reported it at 5:30 p.m. for poorly packaged or opened package!

This person claims via messaging that 3 items are missing but declares 4 in the dispute filed.

Furthermore, she also filed a dispute for 2 damaged items! without any photos.

I am offered: request a return or refund without return. I haven’t made a decision yet.

I contacted Vinted support, they should tell me something within 48 hours.

Honestly, looking at these photos, I suspect she opened it, took the 4 branded items, and declared the other 2 items, including a vintage one, damaged to « scam Â» me.
Basically, I lose 40% of the sum for the initially proposed solution..

I am pessimistic because Vinted generally always sides with the buyers.

Can anyone guide me please?
Thank you very much for your attention and availability

Hello and best wishes,
This is the first time this has happened to me. Usually, in case of a dispute, I ask for the item to be returned, but this time I need help. I sent a new item in its sealed packaging.
The buyer opened a dispute saying the item was broken and not working. She wrote in her dispute that she felt the packaging had been re-glued (« when I open the package, I notice that the item has probably already been opened since the box has likely been re-glued Â» (!). I asked her what made her think it had been opened, she replied that it was very easy to open. She showed photos where it is clear that she had to tear off the plastic to open it. Furthermore, she says that the item was broken with a part hanging off, but she still removed the new plastic tab that protected the batteries, which is no longer present in the photos.

I don’t really see how I could accept the return of an opened and broken item, but I fear that Vinted will side with her because apparently, they always side with the buyer. Has anyone else had this problem with a new, packaged product, please?
