Buyer not picking up their delivery

Hello everyone
A rant to tell you that I’m fed up with buyers who don’t collect their purchases on time
My last sale has just been returned.
I spent money on packaging, shipping (gasoline) and collecting my sale
I lost time and during this time my sale was no longer on Vinted.
And the buyer, no penalty, no compensation, it’s very regrettable.
Vinted should penalize these buyers, because in fact it is the sellers who are penalized, losing money and time.

Hello!
Unfortunately, this happens sometimes. On my end, I count 2 or 3 times a year the number of people who don’t collect their package.
It can happen to anyone, and yes, it’s very frustrating. We lose time and money. But it’s part of the risks of selling.
Personally, I don’t stress about it anymore. I tell myself that the person might be deceased in the worst-case scenario, and in that case, it’s hard to blame them for anything.
If I hear back, I let it go. If I don’t, I block them. That way, there are no more problems with that person.

Hello
I agree with you, it’s frustrating and unfortunately there’s nothing we can do about it…
Vinted could perhaps deduct the delivery fees from the buyers’ refund at a minimum… it wouldn’t change anything for the seller, of course, but it might make some buyers think twice and limit this kind of behavior
Well, I’m not in your situation because out of all my sales, it’s only happened to me twice

Hello, I understand, but sometimes it’s difficult, I don’t know what to do. I ordered a bag and the seller waited for me to place the order to tell me it was fake. I wanted to cancel the order twice, but she refused even though the package hadn’t been sent yet. So now I’m thinking either I don’t pick it up, but I’m afraid I won’t be refunded, or I pick it up and open a dispute. I’m still thinking about it.

Actually, in my opinion, if there is an increase in « not picking up packages at relay points, » it’s simply Vinted’s fault. They don’t do their job as moderators / they sometimes don’t favor the one who is truly legitimate in disputes / it’s easy because you can still use a second-hand service if you’ve changed your mind and there’s no negative review afterward.

I had this happen to me this week. Someone who didn’t pick up the package in the end, even after I reminded them that it would be sent back. They left me on read. Then, they came back saying they didn’t have time and their husband didn’t pick it up, and that I should resell it to them once I received it. Well, no, I don’t want to resell it to you. So, I lost money, time, and packaging… in short, and I can’t even notify Vinted that she could do it again without any issues. And yet, it must cost money to have the package returned, and if there were fewer of them, perhaps the costs would be cheaper too.

So, I conclude by saying that yes, there should be a notification system from the platform to say that the person buys, lets the package go back without any issues, and after several warnings… perhaps they shouldn’t be able to buy for a certain period of time. Or, an additional payment linked to the return.

Hello,
I agree that this is not normal at all and is a waste of time for the seller.
I have already had the case of uncollected packages and the buyer was fully refunded (), and this avoided an automatic negative review for canceling the purchase, but sometimes the sale is validated and the seller is paid.
I just had a return of a package sent in December, messages sent to the buyer so she wouldn’t forget to pick up her package in time, she replied evasively, then a message of package delivered, automatic validation after 2 days, and return of the package in February… She had negotiated the price and I had accepted her offer, without a thank you from her… so the automatic validation (thank you Vinted because it’s too much to ask some people to press a button to validate) did not surprise me.
I don’t know why both scenarios exist .

I completely agree with all of you. Out of the 3 sales I made in February, 3 people did not pick up their orders. Vinted should do like a return and charge for return shipping. Even though I proposed this alternative in the comments section on the Vinted app, I don’t think it will ever happen.

Your saleswoman is quite stupid. She is almost certain to get into a dispute. And what’s more, she admits in the messaging that it’s a fake, so you are almost certain that Vinted will rule in your favor. Furthermore, she is taking a big risk of being banned.

I’m in the same situation, in principle I send it quite quickly because the buyer says it’s for Christmas, but she’s been stringing me along for 3 days, saying she doesn’t have time or has forgotten. I’m fed up with these people who have no respect.

 Me too, I’m fed up with the vinties who don’t pick up their packages this week and Vinted doesn’t care!!!

I have a few cases per year as well.

It’s a shame this doesn’t lead to an automatic negative comment for the buyer.

Depending on the carrier, the return procedure is quite random, and I have sometimes had the product returned and the sale validated. (the buyer not opening a dispute even though it was announced as « delivered »).

Why didn’t you send the screenshot or where it tells you it’s wrong on Vinted?

Have a nice day

I can tell you that I am in this situation. I did not collect my last purchase because it was delivered an hour’s drive from my home, but I exchanged with the buyer and I am repurchasing the item with home delivery, which in the end does not cost much more. In my case, 1 euro more.
